As a congressman, Rogers opposed constructing a bridge connecting Detroit and Windsor. He wanted another "Ambassador Bridge' which is privately owned.
The new Gordie Howe bridge was built by Canada and unlike the Ambassador, the tolls will be shared 50/50 with the US once the bridge is paid off.
