GX-ETS is Japan’s CBAM. Positioned for carbon neutrality by 2050. Until this year, GX League by METI offered voluntary participation and baseline-and credit designs. Now mandatory in 2026, reporting will have impact on carbon credits capture with residual impact on Japan’s Climate Transition Bonds.

In 1982, amendments for Section 2 made strides in Congressional representation. 18 Black congressional representatives in ‘81. Today, 65 Black representatives and 5 Black Senators. At a national level, Black elected officials in the U.S. skyrocketed from ~1,500 in 1970 to +10,000 today.

Now this week, despite the exceptional dissenting opinions from Justice Kagan, Justice Brown, & Justice Sotomayor, SCOTUS has nullified section 2 provisions in VRA impacting gerrymandering in American electoral districts. Justice Kagan: “threatens half-century’s worth of gains in voting equality”.

Since passage of VRA, affected states have raised cases to attempt and success in overturning sections. For example, in 2013 Alabama succeeded in raising Shelby County v. Holder, removing two sections completely of VRA.

Major campaigns of Civil Rights Movement: 1) Montgomery, 2) Albany, 3) Atlanta, 4)Birmingham, and 5) Selma. Kingian non-violence activated movements of social change through peace building actions. Nonviolence is a way of life. In ‘65, Selma resulted in VRA & ending voting rights discrimination. 🧵
