A mockup of a London Underground station sign. A red rondel with a white centre. A blue bar extends horizontally across the middle with the word "Coal Hill" in white capital letters. This will delight Doctor Who fans, one hopes.

We've held a village referendum
Doctor Who, as played by Jon Pertwee, is tied to a Maypole with blue and white ribbon on village green surrounded by a group of local villagers
It's a publicity shot from the 1971 folk horror adventure The Dæmons where the Wiltshire village of Albourne doubles for the fictional Devil's End.

DJ Kat once prounonced Kirkby Lonsdale as it spelled. Locals drop the second 'k' and say 'Kirby'. At the time I was annoyed, but I now realise I was being unfair. It was remarkable enough that DJ Kat could speak English fluently and cope with the demands of presenting a live TV show.

post a picture that should be a difficult second album cover
Three children are sitting outdoors among fallen autumn leaves at the base of a large tree. A girl in a pink jacket sits higher up, leaning against the trunk. Another girl in a pink jacket, grey animal hat, and rainbow tights sits lower, also leaning on the tree. A boy in a yellow hoodie and green pants sits on the ground in the foreground. The background shows blurred figures and trees.

Nina Simone's take on The Bee Gee's 'To Love Somebody' is the greatest cover version of all time, made even more astonishing by the fact that she just throws it away.

This train graffiti I saw on my afternoon commute certainly jolted me out of my bourgeois complacency.
Pink graffiti on a train interior reads "GET SOME CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS :)" and "FUCK OVER A MILLIONAIRE" with a blurry green field and trees visible through the window.

The title card for a Blake's 7 episode called "My Daughter's in Steeleye Span" by Allan Prior. Not funny, but it's true - Allan's daughter, Maddy, remains the lead singer of English folk group Steeleye Span.

Being a father is hard work and often exhausting. However, I do not expect anything in return, and nor should I. So, you can imagine how overwhelmed I felt when the 11yo presented me with this hand made card today. The awe and respect they hold me in makes it all the sacrifices worthwhile.
A father's day card made by my 11yo. There is a crudley drawn TARDIS flanked by Bart (left) and Homer (right). The message reads "Happy Farter's Day". The spelling is deliberate.

Christmas 1987. I thought we'd have to take it back to the rental shop after Boxing Day.
A VHS tape and its case for "The Muppet Movie" are displayed on a red surface. The case shows the film’s cover art and title, while the tape is positioned label side up. This was a 1980s UK release.

This is, in fact, a 1930 photo of two of England's greatest cricketers, Herbert Sutcliffe (aged 36, left) and Jack Hobbs (48). Jack's wife Ada is in the middle. Both opening batters, they had very modest upbringings; Jack grew up in near poverty, and Herbert was orphaned at 9.

Had to say goodbye SpiderCat today. It was very sudden, but she had a good 17 years. She spent her last day on Earth sunbathing in the garden, eating grass, complaining about the food in her bowls and living her best life.

Happy 75th birthday to Peter Davison, my favourite Doctor Who! Mr Davison kindly signed this 44 year old battered and bruised issue of DWM at an event a couple of years ago that my Dad bought for me when I was just under 2yo in January 1982.
A sellotaped and wrinkled copy of Doctor Who Magazine issue 61, from January 1982, with Peter Davison as Doctor Who on the cover. It has been signed by Peter Davison himself.

I live in the same place as Eddie, though at the other end of town, where it was YELLOW bin and food recycling. This suggests that the town has been partitioned, probably by postcode for waste management reasons, making sure the system doesn't become overloaded with one type of recycling.
