Idk if it’s fucked up that 99% of the time when I draw Mikado, the black part of his hair, black undershirt, and shoes are always part of the lineart layer. It’s not colored the same way everything else is. That’s just raw lineart. It literally *can’t* be “colored in.”

Because I made this while talking to someone, I have alt versions yaaaaay. Left is a different possible shading option I liked and asked for feedback on. Right is an eyestrain edit I made for fun.

A work in progress of the above piece where the shading is much more dramatic. Mikado’s face and torso are cast in harsh shadow with light only reaching his cheeks.

An alternate version of the above piece with extremely saturated and bright colors. The lineart is a bright shade of red and all the shading has deep hues of purple and gold in it.

I used to be so neat with it. I would study patterns, watch tutorials online, snd constantly look up other pieces for inspiration. I still sometimes look up patterns or pieces for inspiration. Especially when I’m feeling stuck or in artblock. But I mostly… just kinda go wild.

While there’s some moments I can definitely pin down as turning points for my art, my class having a day where a guest came in and talked about zentangles in 5th grade was definitely one of them. It like rewired my brain. It’s why I got so into abstract art lol.

Oh also Wolfram can’t be gored either due to like 99% of his character being shaped by the fact that he’s never experienced real struggle. I don’t think getting gored would “fix” him per se, but it would certainly have interesting side effects on him. It would change his world view.

Okay see the reason I made this is because I wanted to draw gore, yeah? And Mikado is my go-to for a lot of art. But unfortunately, part of the appeal of Mikado to me is that he’s bored and wants to die, but nothing ever happens™. So any harm to him has to be self-inflicted.
