My greatest frustrating has been with policy wonks who persist in thinking we can just keep doing normal policy analysis ("calling balls and strikes") in this situation. The President of the United States is both lawless and out of his mind. That preempts all normal discussion.

Druckenmiller's WSJ post vented that entitlements must be cut--of course not the richs' tax cut entitlements. Also seeing rants here about people getting much more out of SS than they paid in; I suspect if someone (you?) would run the numbers it'd show SS gives only a decent after-inflation return.

Egregiously misleading. Privately owned, newly donated documents were placed in new badly-designed display cases. While this was a failure by Trump admin agencies, it's inaccurate to imply Trump personally “caused” it. Also, there are multiple "originals" of these. The real ones are safely at NARA.

Yeah, I'm German and I learned about her in school. Most people that know anything about physics know who she is, at least in Germany. And she was also recognized amongst her peers during her lifetime. Max Planck nominated her for the Nobel Prize half a dozen times.

A case can be made she also should have been awarded the Nobel Prize. Her contribution was critical. But the overwrought phrase, "her name was erased from the discovery she made" is untrue to a comical degree. Her accomplishment has long been widely recognized in science.

10/11 That is why these sequences are so dangerous – they can take in the whole economy. When eventually either excessive debt or stricter policies rein in the market, it is not just property developers who suffer. A wide range of agents can get caught up in the adjustment.

11/11 Some economists insist that you cannot say that a market is in a bubble when presumably rational investors say it isn't. But the economy itself can shift investment away from"rational" behavior as long as agents have different risk preferences and realistic time horizons.
