The fact that the leader of his chosen religion (a relatively recent convert at that) articulates the dogma animating Catholicism and Vance disagrees with that interpretation is emblematic of his deliberate misuse of religion. He has a single use for religion: to justify doing horrible things.

Vance isn’t original, he views religion as a tribal identity and not as a spiritual or moral guide, he’s in agreement with the evangelical Christians who see their religion as a means to impose tyranny over others with religion being the excuse for that exercise of power.

Just got back from Vegas where I would walk around during the conference I was at and not even sweat despite having jeans on. I open the door in Florida to take the trash out on an 85 degree day and instantly start sweating before I even make it to the trash can. Humidity matters.

Not that Trump is steeped in history but know what it is he is seeking: his Reichstag moment. The excuse he can use to declare martial law, his own Enabling Law, and dispense with both Congress and the Supreme Court entirely. It’s certainly what the people around him, like Stephen Miller, want.
