The neighborhood feral cat that we adopted last year, with the crooked tail and damaged back leg I named Ojo, frolicked with a young local girl this spring. Lo and behold, kittens! Lionita's human dad tracked us down and Salvador is now part of the family. Lucky us! 🍀🤞❤️🐈‍⬛🌈
An elder all black male cat asleep on a quilted bedspread with his son, a mostly black young kitten with white socks and paws, with a white mustache and chin, with a meandering line of white fur down his belly.

Finished my sunflower quilt and using it as a table topper. It's so bright and fun to look at! #Quilting 🧵✂️ #Sunflowers🌻
a round quilt with the look of a sunflower, including different yellow to orange petals surrounding a large center that is quilted to look like seeds, and the 'seeds' are surrounded by a fuzzy brown fabric

Bought this amazing perennial last year at Butterfly Effect Farm in Westport, Massachusetts. Love the orchid like flowers and pretty pinkish bracts. #GardeningFeed🌱
in foreground, spotted bee balm, with purple spotted yellow tubular flowers stacked on the stem with light pink to white bracts separating them. in background, to the right is two salmon colored gladioli, in the middle some naturalizing daylilies, and farthest back are trees and a light blue sky with scattered white clouds.

#booksky 📚💙⌛ I can't shake this protagonist, and I don't like her. This novel opened my mind to the 'trad wife' movement and what some people are grasping for.

#booksky 📚💙 Very enjoyable and well written book about Miss Bessie Coleman, our first black female aviator from over 100 years ago. Carole Hopson writes with passion about this courageous woman who lived a life of her own choosing, following no one but her own desire to fly. Much respect!

🧵✂️ I'm joining my first quilt guild, #RIMAMQG, and this was their first block of the month challenge: 'All sorts o' strip happens'. Frustrated with a problem (dealing with an elder's care), I decided to take my mind off of that and see where this challenge would take me. I like it! 😊
10 1/2 inch block of cotton fabric. colors include white, black, chartreuse, grey, hot pink, and pink. material is cut and sewn together in a series of triangles, strips, blocks, and quarter circles, with a border of white. it appears to have more yardage in the seams. ;)

🌱 My rhubarb is SO red this year, no doubt due to the big freeze we got in New England this past winter. Cooked green rhubarb isn't as attractive, though tastes the same, as ruby red or pink tinged, and looks matters. I'm dreaming of an iced rhubarb souffle with strawberry sauce...😋

🍽️Johnny Cake! I added a 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder, but not sure it was needed. I melted the butter, whisked in the milk, then all the dry ingredients were whisked in. Baked at 325 degrees for about 25 minutes. The texture is dense and delicious.
A post-it note with a recipe for Anna Newbert's Johnny Cake in a Boston Cooking-School Cook Book, 1925. Johnny Cake, Anna would say, is not southern corn bread because it has sugar in it. The sugar would help keep the cake for the journey. Anna would pack the Johnny Cake, cubes of cheese, and grapes in a shoebox and give it to her visitors on their journey home from her house on the coast of Maine.

Fresh compost spred, grass and white clover seed imbedded, strings with ripstop nylon ribbons tied on and strung across area to (hopefully) keep all my bird friends from eating these seeds.

Living in a basement apartment on Comm Ave in Boston, winter 1982, I crocheted this hat. Bought the yarn at Woolworth's around the corner on Harvard Ave. Who'd have thought we would both still be useful this many decades later?
