John David Francis McAra @jmcara.bsky.social · 03/10/2026Everyone seems to be missing the main point here. A senior MP from a party that may well be in govt some time is seriously talking about geneology in terms if citizenship. 000
John David Francis McAra @jmcara.bsky.social · 25/09/2026www.csis.org/analysis/rus... Why yes, here are a few sources. The CSIS guys think the casualty ratio is 8:1 in Ukraine’s favour. You certainly are not my mate, you are a blocked Russian troll. www.politico.eu/article/russ...politico.euRussia bleeds troops for microscopic front-line gainsBoth Ukraine and Russia are finding it difficult to recruit new soldiers. 000
John David Francis McAra @jmcara.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Losing 1000 military age men a day might be playing havoc with that statistical analysis tovarich. 100
John David Francis McAra @jmcara.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Depends how many of that 15m are young men of military age. They are the future, and they are losing them at a fairly astonishing rate. Ukraine are undoubtedly suffering, but they have become an economic, military and resource asset that the EU will eventually absorb. 100

John David Francis McAra @jmcara.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Don’t get me wrong, the Russians are and will be a fundamental security issue for whatever Europe evolves in to as long as it exists, but the idea of them steamrollering everyone until they reach the channel? 000
John David Francis McAra @jmcara.bsky.social · 25/09/2026How would an army that has shown its limitations against Ukraine overcome even Poland, never mind Germany, France, Scandanavia and the rest of Europe. Even in the unlikely circumstances of fighting each individually? 100
John David Francis McAra @jmcara.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Demographically its pretty grim anyhoo. Add in the war casualties and the losses from those who have left to avoid becoming some, then it is pretty catastrophic within the next decade. I’m curious to understand the metric where Russia is “doing fine”? 200
John David Francis McAra @jmcara.bsky.social · 25/09/2026Never understood why this exists. You have laws and a justice system, except when the chief executive says you don’t? 000
John David Francis McAra @jmcara.bsky.social · 25/09/2026And the Americans would only get to betray Europe once. After which, I suspect necessity would quickly bring about the kind of organisation you describe. 100

John David Francis McAra @jmcara.bsky.social · 25/09/2026It could try. The example of Ukraine leads me to think they wouldn’t get very far. Perhaps the Baltic states but the cost to them would be enormous, in terms of manpower, equipment and cash. They could also wave goodbye to Kaliningrad and getting access to the Baltic. 100
John David Francis McAra @jmcara.bsky.social · 25/09/2026China and the US OK, I understand that. Russia? Its an inherently corrupt country of 130 million whose demographics are collapsing and whose economy is the same size as Italy. 200

John David Francis McAra @jmcara.bsky.social · 14/09/2026That might have as much to do with our multi party political systems as voter sympathies. To assume Europeans won’t make the same incredibly stupid choices as the US would be a mistake. 100
