I need to obtain a print of this.

If they fix their kit to not look like 90s clipart mixed with a jester's outfit, it will be ok.

I have not! However, my significant other and I find it, uh, helpful, to have certain cyclists on our respective lists. He gats Kasia and Demi. I get Ganna and Ciccone. But that doesn't mean we like other cyclists less. (Except the MAGAs. They can go away.)

.. we're taking about a bunch of light weight skinny guys (and women that are 10% body fat or something). It's not like the peloton is going to be releasing any 'hunk of the month' calendars.* But lots of them seem like cool people. (*I would take a calendar full of picks of Ganna.)

I thankfully haven't come upon this discourse, but if you want the best rider in the world to get the jersey, cancel the race and go by points. That's boring. McNulty is awesome (he's an AZ boy and we're THRILLED), it was a killer race. Looks? I hope the bleached blonde trend goes away, but..

TL;DR: they reduce speeding. That's a plus if you want to reduce injuries and deaths and a minus if you're a selfish prick.

Kozinski's point was not that it was right or civilized. Quite the opposite.
The enterprise is flawed. Using drugs meant for individuals with medical needs to carry out executions is a misguided effort to mask the brutality of executions by making them look serene and peaceful - like something any one of us might experience in our final moments. . . . But executions are, in fact, nothing like that. They are brutal, savage events, and nothing the state tries to do can mask that reality. Nor should it. If we as a society want to carry out executions, we should be willing to face the fact that the state is committing a horrendous brutality on our behalf.

If some states and the federal government wish to continue carrying out the death penalty, they must turn away from this misguided path and return to more primitive — and foolproof — methods of execution. The guillotine is probably best but seems inconsistent with our national ethos. And the electric chair, hanging and the gas chamber are each subject to occasional mishaps. The firing squad strikes me as the most promising. Eight or ten large-caliber rifle bullets fired at close range can inflict massive damage, causing instant death every time.

Kozinski was right on the firing squad. Want to kill someone? Do it so everyone can see exactly how it works.

Sounds like you hate driving. That's okay. Me too.

Found one in Tucson the other day too. Fortunately (?) he at least realized something had gone horribly wrong and was driving extremely slowly and stopped as we rode toward him. He apologized sheepishly, then continued to crawl toward the first available 'exit' from the bike path. More bollards!!

When I see a cyclist behaving in a way that I think is risky, I think geez, I hope they don't die. "Hate" seems like an odd reaction.

Ok, but, like.. wake kids, dress kids, feed kids, (laugh at kids), get self ready, drop kids off, go to work, (have adult social interactions, thank goodness), pick up kids, grocery shop, make dinner, laundry, wash kids, put kids to sleep, drink. What of that gets outsourced to AI?

As an attorney who has had both wonderful and awful admins, and now doesn't have one at all (govt job), I miss my good ones desperately, miss the bad ones quite a bit, and I'd rather stick with none than create a fake one. Maybe I'm weird.

It's extremely cheep to do it here, and it's not too hot or dry so long as you have an unlimited water supply. It grows super well here if you give it tons of water. Major cuts in Colorado River deliveries start next month. Things are going to get ugly.

Lawns aren't sufficient. And the better legal solution is eminent domain, or potentially banning the crop as a public health risk.

Raw? In Arizona, they can use either groundwater or CAP (Colorado River) water and both are directly related as competing sources. And both are unstable at this point.

He came out to the local winter crit last year.. hairy legs and all. Seemed cool. (He came after already doing like.. 100 miles motor pacing or something ridiculous that morning.)

I love a good timeline coincidence
Two posts in a row. The first from the Onion is a headline that says "NSFW artist struggling to improve on sexiness of regular muppets". The second is someone else's unrelated (???) photo of human-sized Statler and Waldorf muppets.

Rocker plate sounds better. Also, be sure to put it in the big ring to spin the flywheel faster.. esp if in erg mode (oof). But pretty sure the trainer is a form of torture no matter what you try.

My kid (12) is excited to finally have a bus stop close enough (1 mile) that she can walk home alone. She has to cross one busy street at a light. First day, I walked to meet her at the light. Idiot in a big truck turned right at the light without first looking right and almost hit her. I hate this.

I ride my bike through campus all the time. Yes, some pedestrians don't look up. I can see them coming, and I slow down for them. And that's okay. (Some of them look up at the last second and get startled. They are the ones who will later say a bike almost killed them. But I digress.)

You know.. I know it's just a mock up, but considering the state of the Colorado River and all, you could make a cool, interesting, walkable space without grass and a fake lake. Talk to the Phoenix botanical garden or Broyce Thompson, or the Desert Museum. Also, build the train from Tucson.

Make phones lock over 15 mph. Sorry passengers. You'll live. (Fairly confident there'd be a way to let phones stay unlocked with a valid mass transit ticket.)

As someone watching from another state, I don't have any bowls of shit in front of me, so can't talk. But I'm watching with interest because which bowl of shit y'all chose could decide the supreme court justice(s) who will affect me, my loved ones, and all kinds of people a whole lot, for decades.

I told my partner I would ride to the start tomorrow. But apparently it starts at 6:30 a.m. about a ~2.5 hour ride away. I got vetoed. I might ride home tho. "Only" 96 degrees tomorrow.

Yes. I would expect to see a lot of "love yourself first"/"love comes to those who wait" ... and then all the make up and clothing suggestions to buy your way to aesthetic attractiveness. I would think that these days the advice to everyone should be get a non-internet hobby and a therapist.

Surely there is an article from 30 or so years ago responding to a woman who is turning 30 without being married (gasp!) that could be reused? I would at least enjoy laughing at how different the advice was.

One killed one of my friends. Another went through a neighbor's block wall. And a third was on its roof in front of my kid's middle school. And those are just the three off the top of my head that most affected me directly this year.

It would be pretty easy to ensure they don't have the physical ability to record or store video or sound, even assuming that's not already the case. I know ours (before banned by voters 🙄) just snapped stills when triggered. And you'd know when it triggered because the flash would go off.

But really climate change is going to kill us all. And AI making us dumber is just likely to speed that up a bit, as if it's not moving fast enough already.
000
J Sutton @jlsaz.bsky.social · 14/09/2026
Too much emphasis on AI as the actor and not enough emphasis on AI as the tool. AI both makes people dumber *and* makes it easier for dumb people to do bad things. Annie Jacobson is doing the podcast rounds on the bioweapon thing. It isn't AI making them. It's dumb people asking AI for recipes.

I take full responsibility for the guy I have never met who sounds like he lives across the pond from me who did not run into you and may or may not have caused some else injury purely by virtue of me owning a bicycle, though I have never run into anyone. Do you feel better now?

I have seen people absolutely panic when a bike going ~12 mph gets within 5 feet of them. (Mind you, the same one that just went past me that I hardly noticed.)
