Insightful look into a difficult moment in aviation. One of the best behind the scenes reporting of the Spirit Airline Repo operation after the closure of the airline. www.youtube.com/watch?v=moEixIux1b0

@mattblaze is it bad because it drains the general ability to respond to other issues in the area?

@xgranade go with whatever fits your needs, but homebrew is pretty much *the* end-user environment for mac unix-like these days. your needs might vary though, so that's why I asked.

On the other hand, i had a good visit to my ENT who extracted large amounts of ear wax that was stuck. TMI But that’s the most exciting thing that happened for me so far in 2026.

@samvarma Also, there is a false equivalency. Just because something happens fast doesn't mean it has the same weight. A covid shutdown in 3 months vs AI improving in 3 months, vs a baseball being hit as a home run in the last inning of a game. The time scales are different, but only one killed […]

@samvarma So my counterpoint to this person's long form is, well, I read it, I thought it wasn't that great, but it's fine. It was probably written with generative AI tools, but it's no more insightful or interesting than say, an article in a gossip mag. Good for a 3 min read, skip the rest. Go […]

@samvarma Specifically because many tasks are orthogonal to each other. What I do feel is going to be a trend is AI being crappy at a lot of things, but good enough to pass the crappiness barrier. You think people actually *want* good programs? they actually want good art? No. For 90% of the […]

@samvarma I only read about 3/4 of it, (stopped at "what you should actually do" - and it's drivel. My issue with it is that it has a very "top down" hierarchical viewpoint. I know for a fact that almost all PhD's *cannot* do office work and fail at it. Most programmers can't do simple IT work […]

The image depicts a stunning mountainous landscape under a clear blue sky with scattered clouds. In the foreground, there is a grassy hillside with patches of green grass and a large, moss-covered rock. The middle ground features a serene lake nestled in a valley, surrounded by lush greenery. The background showcases towering, rugged mountains with sharp peaks, creating a dramatic contrast against the sky. The mountains are partially shrouded in mist, adding depth to the scene. The overall color palette is vibrant, with the greens of the grass and trees, the blues of the sky and water, and the grays and browns of the rocky terrain. The image captures the natural beauty and tranquility of the landscape, with no visible human presence or man-made structures.

Here, have some huge BC trees:

on my second website conversion to a freebsd bastille jail. it's actually kind of nice! One gotcha is I'm starting to lose track of the levels of inception... am I outside in the host, or inside bastille, and if so which jail? inception!!

A windy day, but with excellent visibility, on Angelus Peak, this past Sunday. #NelsonLakes That was the first time I climbed it on this trip, but not the last! #Aotearoa
Angelus Lake prominent in the centre of this photo on a pretty windy, partly cloudy day with lots of sunshine. Mountains abound. There is a hut which you can barely see on the shores of the lake.
