Miles McBride can help the Knicks repeat as champions. That’s why the situation with his contract, current salary and the team’s objective to stay below second apron, makes his situation very, very interesting. More here: www.nytimes.com/athletic/764...

Knicks lost Mitchell Robinson because second apron loomed. Will Miles McBride fall victim too? (Gift Article)
Karl-Anthony Towns, Josh Hart and Miles McBride are all extension eligible, but McBride is the only one with an expiring deal.

Andre Drummond has been the face of a franchise. He’s also had to scrap & claw. Drummond has seen it all … except for this situation in New York, where he’s trying to help the champs stay the champs by being himself, not the guy he’s replacing: www.nytimes.com/athletic/art...

Knicks have a little more competition in the backup center market with the Lakers dealing Ayton. One name I’m hearing to watch for with New York if he gets waived by Denver: Jonas Valanciunas. Nuggets just added Marvin Bagley.

Can confirm Mitchell Robinson is heading to Boston for the full nontaxpayer MLE — Knicks woulda been in second apron at that. Now they must pivot to a cheaper backup on market or a trade to sure up depth.

If the Knicks are done, they've added a handful of future seconds, a good amount of cash and two players likely to play on second-round minimum deal or two-way contract as it looks to avoid second apron. Story in AM.

Knicks take Ugonna Onyenso, a center, at No. 53. Played for three colleges and averaged, at least, 2.8 blocks per game in two of his college seasons. Maybe best shot blocker in draft. Assuming NY is done, I'll have a story tomorrow AM on what the draft means for the Knicks' big picture.

I'm expecting New York to only make selections in slots where it can sign a player to a second-round rookie minimum (hard to do that at Pick 31) or a two-way contract. Not reporting that, just looking at the situation.
