Jeff Kampman @jkampman.bsky.social · 04/09/2025I'm dubious on the idea that businesses really care about a $349 price tag, which is more of a concern for cards that aren't making money for the user in exchange. Business buyers are going to be looking over the full HW/SW stack and judging that against whether the card makes the worker productive. 010
Jeff Kampman @jkampman.bsky.social · 04/09/2025The Intel Arc Pro B50 illustrates the challenge the entire program faces, which is that it outperforms prior-gen stuff that's already on its way out. Nvidia doesn't have an RTX Pro 1000 Blackwell card yet, but the RTX Pro 2000 Blackwell is coming and targets a similar SFF workstation market. 120
Jeff Kampman @jkampman.bsky.social · 25/08/2025this graphics card is no longer a navigation hazard to passing aircraft (seriously, why is this LED strip so bright?) 000
Jeff Kampman @jkampman.bsky.social · 21/08/2025It’s easier to show differences in upscaler quality etc. than to talk about them, and I’m hoping this Elgato 4K Pro capture card will help my future coverage in that regard! 000
Jeff Kampman @jkampman.bsky.social · 19/08/2025The 3060 12GB is a 4yo GPU and it is already slow in modern titles even before running out of VRAM. By the time you're pushing that limit, you're already in unplayable territory in most games. The RX 9060 XT 8GB is like 40% faster than a 3060 at 1080p! Jeff Kampman @jkampman.bsky.social · 19/08/2025The GeForce RTX 3060 12GB tops both the Amazon and Newegg best-sellers lists and I feel like people are way over-indexing on that 12GB of VRAM. The hated RX 9060 XT 8GB handily outperforms the 3060, it can be had for less money, and if you do spill out of VRAM its performance degrades gracefully. 100
Jeff Kampman @jkampman.bsky.social · 15/08/2025True values in PC components are rare these days, but a $125 1200W PSU that includes a quality 12V-2x6 cable and can power an RTX 5090 without a sweat is one.tomshardware.comI paired a cheap $125 PSU with a $3,000 RTX 5090 — nothing melted, even when pulling 1044 wattsThe RTX 5090's 575W TGP is intimidating, but some cheap PSUs are still up to the task 010

Jeff Kampman @jkampman.bsky.social · 17/07/2025Pretty sure I saw an AI-summarized article at another outlet this morning on a topic I covered because not only did it contain a copy of a mistake in my coverage, it also contained hallucinated facts that aren’t mentioned anywhere in the source. Who needs editors or editorial standards any more? 010
Jeff Kampman @jkampman.bsky.social · 16/07/2025More recently I did technical marketing for Asus before joining Intel as part of the Arc graphics program. My time at Intel unfortunately came to an end late last year, but I'm back to my roots doing hands-on testing and analysis as a member of the tech press and I couldn't be happier. 000
Jeff Kampman @jkampman.bsky.social · 16/07/2025A bit about me: I've been building my own PCs for almost 20 years and writing about everything inside (and outside) of them for over a decade. I used to review CPUs and GPUs (and more) for The Tech Report, which was responsible for thrusting frame-time-based game testing methods into the mainstream. 100
Jeff Kampman @jkampman.bsky.social · 16/07/2025Howdy Bluesky! I test and write about everything to do with GPUs for @tomshardware.com, and I'll probably post random thoughts and observations about that work here (as well as articles I'm responsible for). Consider following if that's of interest to you! #pchardware #pcgaming 101
