You write the sound of a gator snidely laughing as “H h h” one time & suddenly, it’s everywhere… For context: listen to Not Quite Write’s latest daredevil ep, featuring a story by yours truly, titled “Clean Edges, Sweet with Rot” 🐊😉

“My heels went first, then my calves loosened into water, my thighs surrendered, my stomach opened its gates. I crept under the humming refrigerator, beneath the door, down the three flights of stairs and into the street…” From my piece “New Blue” which longlisted in July’s Furious Fiction 🥳

@clairekc.bsky.social hey you quarrelsome dame! Your amazing book “How to Kill A Witch” inspired me to write a short fiction story about how the early days of the trials affected a marriage… & it won a contest! 🥳 (“The Mark Upon the Bread”, in issue no.56 of Elegant Literature) #WitchesofScotland

Eve’s Gamble. Going to clean this one up & make a whole series.👀
A digital illustration that looks similar to a playing card. On the top, the Queen of Hearts is about to bite an apple, mirrored below is the Queen of Spades, with an apple already bitten. A 3D snake is around their middle, in a shape of infinity.

A Tale for the Time Being — Ruth Ozeki is an epistolary work that masters the hard balance between telling info vs. discovering through narrative. I loved: the complexity & depth of the teenage character Nao. Believable & lived-in. Unique: meta-fictional elements, self inserts of the author.

First up!📚 Good People — Patmeena Sabit wove vignettes into a coherent pressure system—mystery-thriller pacing with tension through contrast What stood out: the slow revealing of the family without ever giving them a direct POV; characterization built through function rather than interiority
A hand holding the trade copy of “Good People” by Patmeena Sabit. The cover is bold: large white bolded font & a bright green background with a black and white photo of a teenage girl looking at you from around a corner.
