I have been expanding my collection of FM music cartridges. Some notable ones are still missing in my collection though. I also improved my setup so that I don't have to redo all the cabling when I want to play a game that supports multiple of these and uses a different VDP. #MaySiXth #MSX

The TV which was broken and then glued and stitched together again has moved into a new body. Internals mostly remain the original Sony KV-1400UB. The anthracite case is from a donor KV-1400E TV. There are some telltale signs of this.

My de-rusted #FM7 is not yet trusted. It intermittently does not boot to BASIC, but into a blinking cursor in top left corner. I guess it is trying to boot from a disk somehow even though there is no disk controller installed. Could it be a bad DIP switch?

Working on my rusted #FM7. I was getting ready to desolder the switches so that the rusted keyboard plate could be fixed but it turned out that the PCB with the switches can be unscrewed and the key/switch tops can be pushed through using a flat screw driver and a finger.

Akihabara Station at sun down. Checking out local arcades and restaurants. So far found plenty of candy cabs with Gradius and Salamander, but no R-Type yet. Also found MSX Aleste in a shop, but the price was pretty much terrible, so the search still goes on.

Completed the arcade version of R-Type in MAME using a d-pad on single life. I then continued to play the second loop and died in level 11. #1-ALL

Today I played through the entire arcade R-Type on MAME. Not saying I completed it because I was using save-states, but I am still pretty pumped up about it. I have a saved state for the beginning of each level with the ship equipped as it would be without dying. Means I can practice levels at will.

Any of you #SHARP X1 people have a schematic for the CZ-850D monitor? Judging from the smell, something cooked inside when it made the wet "pop" sound. There was no white smoke though. My guess is it was some a non-essential capacitor as the monitor was still working before I shut it down.

Today I was just one flip of a switch away from frying a SHARP MZ-1500 by plugging it to 220V. This happened as I was previously playing with European versions of MZ-800 and MZ-700 and then casually swapping the Japanese MZ-1500 in. Glad that I stopped myself today. I must be more careful next time.

Wondering if it makes better sense for the Czech Republic to reconsider the purchase of F-35 in favor of something produced locally in Europe, such as the latest Gripen, Eurofighter or Rafale. Something that the US does not benefit from and cannot switch off.

Here's one of the LVA510 (PAL encoder IC) failure modes: completely missing chroma from the output composite video signal. #MSX

Picture of the boot screen has a green tint due to missing chroma signal.

Cyan signal on osciloscope showing the luma signal as generated by the VDP and input into the LVA510. Yellow signal shows the composite output videosignal as generated by the LVA510. The composite is completely missing any chroma modulation and color burst.

Here's a somewhat blur picture of my MSX setup. The monitor would fit better with my Philips NMS 8245, but today is not its turn. So you get a view of my Panasonic FS-A1FX instead. I've been using the Tesla TV as a second monitor for games that use the V9990 graphics. #MaySiXth #MSX

I am debugging a problem with my Mattel Aquarius and needed some sort of a cartridge breakout board. I found this project on GitHub and had it manufactured by AISLER in Germany. The 3 PCBs were for EUR 20.52 in total including free untracked shipping. Try to beat this, China :-)
