Every week is the same cycle: - Downgrade the 49ers for injuries on Monday - They give those downgrades the finger on Sunday

All my Connor merch is gonna be out of date now in 2028. This is tragic. SVG's contract is also up after next year. Can't imagine him leaving, buuuuuuuuuuut

I grew up a huge Elliott Sadler fan. Tonight's truck race is the first time I have gotten to bet a race he is in. My lone bet on him is the partial fill I got on his "No Top 10" price. Seven-year-old Jim is disappointed in me.

I've always had a soft spot for Field of Dreams because my mom is from Iowa. Byron Buxton is my favorite athlete of all time. It bums me the eff out that he's not playing tonight.

I am, however, getting +EV cashout offers on Hill T5 (+3500) and Blaney win (+5000). Gonna let those ride, too, but had to at least see if they could tempt me.

Have Austin Hill +75000 to win today. Went to check cashout options. Cashout offer implies his win odds are 0.8%. I've got him 1.0% post-qualifying. Wouldn't have taken it, anyway, but glad not to have the "It's +EV!!!" demon in my head.

Average 1st round QB since 2010: 22.3 years old 32.5 games w/ 10-plus pass attempts 81.1 QBR Ty Simpson: 23.3 years old 16 games 76.0 QBR The average *successful* first-rounder has been 22.1 years old with 35.4 games and a QBR of 82.2.

1st round QBs since 2010 with less than 25 games with 10-plus pass attempts who were at least 22.5 years old: - Mac Jones - Mitchell Trubisky - Carson Wentz - Ryan Tannehill - Ty Simpson (23.3, 16 games) Simpson's 16 games are the fewest of that group, and he is older than all but Tannehill.

Todd McShay caught a lotta flack for getting briefly duped on Arvell Reese at No. 2. But I bet Jeremiyah Love to go 3rd because of him, so shoutout Todd.

This also isn't to say you should steam-chase. If the odds shorten, you're inherently not getting the best number. And not all of that movement comes to fruition. Best option is the boring one: minimal draft-day bets unless you've got intel the odds aren't accounting for.
000
Jim Sannes @jimsannes.bsky.social · 23/04/2026
Biggest thing I've learned from past NFL drafts: Don't bet against draft-day steam. That's when *actual* information leaks. If someone's odds shorten significantly, it's good to resist the temptation to "buy low" on someone else.

The only non-sweltering race I've been to was the 2007 Daytona weekend. Was pumped to leave Minnesota for Florida in February. Packed only shorts. Froze to death in the stands. Had a blast.

Forecast this weekend for NASCAR in Kansas has highs in the 50s/60s. As someone who has sweat profusely/gotten rained on at every NASCAR race I've been to the past decade, I am in heaven.

And just like that, the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine has come and gone.

But those results? They're forever etched into the spreadsheets for all eternity.

This year, we saw some record-breaking performances, and we saw plenty of calculated opt-ins and opt-outs.

What does it all mean? Off the heels of last week's deep dive into which NFL Combine measurables really matter, let's take a look at some of the biggest takeaways from the weekend while keeping in mind that NFL Combine data is only one piece of the puzzle for incoming NFL prospects.
