The Voyeur by Jim Ody is a fun-filled psychological/erotic thriller. As the mystery unfolds, the characters take you on a journey through a seedy underworld, carefully curated through the eyes of a voyeur. But what if someone else is watching? @jimodyauthor.bsky.social has nailed it again 📚💙🩸📚

Luke is not like other men.
Luke is always watching. And he will stop at nothing to get what he wants…no matter the consequences.
But what happens when the tables are turned?
What happens when someone watches the voyeur?

The Voyeur is part thriller, part erotica, all with an undertone of Jim Ody’s trademark humour and urban tone. It is gritty, graphic, and complicated. Luke as a main character is incredibly unlikeable, yet as a reader you can’t pull away, and want him to succeed. It is an incredible testament to the skill of the writer that Luke works. He is unreliable as a narrator, but you hang on his every thought and word. The characters are complicated throughout, and you find yourself questioning everything you think you know.

Jim Ody continues to branch out in his style and here he once again proves that he is an accomplished multi-genre author, which is a rare skill to have. His writing never fails to make me laugh, make me think, and consistently throws in twists that I never see coming. The Voyeur is no exception to this: a wonderfully curated journey through the seedy eyes of the voyeur.

Almost 200 pages in to The Last Weekend by @jimodyauthor.bsky.social & really getting into it now! Very creepy & feel like it’s going to get creepier! #booksky 🩸 📚 💙 #horrorbook

A plush purple eggplant with a cute, smiling face sits on the floor, looking far too innocent next to a rather ominous book. The Last Weekend by Jim Ody, with its eerie cover featuring a menacing ram’s skull bathed in red, suggests that this little vegetable friend might have a darker side. Has this adorable aubergine been indulging in some late-night horror reading? Or is it secretly the mastermind behind the plot? Either way, it’s clearly up to something… and we should probably keep an eye on it.

Smoke rings float to damp-stain ceilings; I recall the pages of a discarded bible sighs as I once thumbed threw it. Redemption now lost on milk cartons smeared with cheap lipstick. Dancing shadows judging what I am and what I’ll amount too, tattooed with bad news, marked by the beast forever.

Dirty bedsheets transparent and wet through heat and sin; residual pleasure-dome screams still echo through the walls within, The room flashes with headlights from passing cars, and strangers pay other strangers to sip moonshine from jam jars. And watch. Really watch. Voyeuristic self-love.
