I'm really proud of this project. In my biased opinion, it's pretty good, and if you like playing with circuits you should check it out :) #gamedev #indiegame

Right now I'm working on both a Godot 3 project and a Godot 4 project. I couldn't tell the different engine versions apart on my taskbar, so I made this custom heart-eyes icon to distinguish them :) #godot #godotengine
Screenshot of my taskbar in KDE Plasma. It shows icons for various programs on my computer, including two Godot icons. One looks normal, one has hearts for eyes like the 😍 emoji.

My friend is reading The Murderbot Diaries by @marthawells.com, which inspired me to finally make this guide to the series. I'm pretty proud of this table. I tried really hard to make it easy to understand, since most sources for this information are pretty confusing.
Screenshot of a table. There is too much information in the table to fit within the character limit for this alt text. You can find the table in this reddit post where your screen reader will work nicely with it: https://www.reddit.com/r/murderbot/comments/1sp5s88/a_straightforward_guide_to_all_the_murderbot/

I 3D printed this ring sizer kit at my local library. Super cool of @repebble.com to publish the STLs for this. Can't wait to get my properly-fitted Pebble ring!
Hand holding a freshly 3D-printed Pebble Index 01 ring sizer kit. Outdoors above a picnic table. The rings from the sizer kit have been separated and sanded down. Most are piled on a white table, but one of them is on the index finger of the same hand from before, which now makes a thumbs up gesture. In the background there is a rubber duck, a pen, and a laptop.

There's now a version of this built-in to .NET, so I can finally delete some of the most cursed code I've ever written. Goodbye to this horrifying monster

dd was originally written by Ken Thompson at Bell Labs. It was first released as part of Unix in June 1974. Today, dd is part of GNU. I'm using it right now to test a new hard drive for I/O errors. This program is more than half a century old.

A dd command has finished, copying 26TB from /dev/zero to /dev/sdd.

A new dd command is running, copying from /dev/sdd to /dev/null.

A full 6% of people who play my game use Arch Linux, which is wild to me because globally on Steam it's only 0.3%. I bet we have one of the highest Arch user percentages on Steam. Can anyone beat 6%? #gamedev #indiedev #linux #linuxgaming

Found him. #godot
Chaotic selfie, camera tilted, grainy photo, motion blur, Jimmy is in front of a window that has a plaque of the Godot logo (a blue robot) mounted on it. The window is indoors and separates two rooms from each other.

Hot take: if I spend eight years and thousands of hours building a game, I've earned the right to share my opinion of whether people should play it. #gamedev #indiedev
Steam review dialog.

"Review Logic World.

You're played for 204 hours
Would you recommend this game to other players?"

The "Yes" option is selected.

There is an angry red box that says:

"Developers are not allowed to write reviews for their own products."

Then:

"Please describe what you liked or disliked about this product and whether you recommend it to others. Please remember to be polite and follow the Rules and Guidelines. A description is required to post your recommendation."

In the space to write a review, the taker of the screenshot has written:

"It's the most innovative first-person digital logic sandbox I've played in years! Also, the dev is extremely hot"

A few weeks ago, I jokingly said I'd buy a pizza for the first person to get DOOM running in Logic World. A few absolute legends took that challenge extremely seriously and the race was on. I can scarcely believe it, but today, DOOM ran in Logic World for the first time

Unihertz Jelly Star. It's tiny, but it's packed with features -- NFC, fingerprint reader, programmable button, headphone jack, microSD or dual SIM, IR remote, FM radio receiver, and way better CPU/RAM/storage than you'd guess based on the size. Favorite phone ever! (photo cred: redd.it/1nq3ebn)
Photograph of a hand, palm up, holding a green Jelly Star (smartphone) over some yellow flowers. The phone looks adorably small in the hand, about the size of a credit card.

Logic World has some of the shiniest characters in all of video gaming
Screenshot of the video game "Logic World". Four characters are huddled together, and the screenshot is from the first-person perspective of one of them. All the visible characters are extremely shiny so reflections of the world and each other are visible within them. The characters are colored spheres with smiley faces on them.

If you're sick of enshittification, switch to products made by small teams who care about quality. Shoutout to @obsidian.md, where I currently do all my writing and note-taking. This is what my screen looks like when I start writing a new document. Exactly what it needs to be and no more.

It was such a silly and whimsical little thing. This is what the UI looks like now, btw -- so sterile by comparison. "Personalize your gift with a little note" is a cute activity I want to do, "Gift Options" is just a task
Screenshot of the Steam UI for sending a gift as it exists now.

The header says "Gift Options"

There is a text box for "Gift message"

The signature is auto-filled with "Jimmy", the name of my steam account.

I miss when Steam gifts each came with a mandatory "sentiment" that you had to choose from a dropdown of increasingly unhinged pre-made options. Ker Blam
Screenshot of the Steam UI for sending a gift as it existed a few years ago.

The header says "Personalize your gift with a little note"

There are fields for "Recipient's first name", "Gift message" and "Your signature"

There's a dropdown titled "Your sentiment" which comes before the "your signature" field. The dropdown is expanded and some of the options are visible:
- Best Wishes
- Enjoy
- Game On
- Have Fun
- Ker Blam
- Over n' Out

I found this in a blog post from 2002, and I think it's very applicable to AI-assisted coding in 2025
Screenshot of text:

The law of leaky abstractions means that whenever somebody comes up with a wizzy new code-generation tool that is supposed to make us all ever-so-efficient, you hear a lot of people saying “learn how to do it manually first, then use the wizzy tool to save time.” Code generation tools which pretend to abstract out something, like all abstractions, leak, and the only way to deal with the leaks competently is to learn about how the abstractions work and what they are abstracting. So the abstractions save us time working, but they don’t save us time learning.

And all this means that paradoxically, even as we have higher and higher level programming tools with better and better abstractions, becoming a proficient programmer is getting harder and harder.

Making sandbox games is awesome because you get to see all the cool stuff people create with your systems. This pic was shared on the Logic World discord yesterday by trucksarenoisy -- it's a work-in-progress shot of their first ever computer. Brought a huge smile to my face :)

With persistent work, you can make incredible progress at whatever it is you're trying to do. It might take years, it might even take a lot of years, but persistence will do you wonders. I didn't know anything about coding when I started. V1 of this game was trash. But I KEPT GOING. So keep going.
A screenshot of a blocky 3D video game.

There is a pixelated numeric display in the foreground, showing the number 00012. Behind it, many complex layers of circuitry are visible, powering and controlling the display.A screenshot of a blocky 3D video game.

We are on the roof of a large structure. The roof is covered in circuitry and wires. Various parts of the circuitry are labeled "X Address" and "Y Address".

The roof circuitry is connected to more circuitry that stretches vertically along the side of the building, transmitting signals to lower layers in the structure.A screenshot of a blocky 3D video game.

A mesmerizing, dense circuit board. Along the circuit board are rows of switches in groups of four, labeled alternatingly as "Opcode" and "Operand". The switches are in various states of on and off.A screenshot of a blocky 3D video game.

We are on the roof of some tall structure. The roof is coated with rectangular green objects. Some are in an on state while others are in an off state.

In the distance we can see a huge amount of complicated circuitry. The structure we are standing on appears to be part of it.

When I was 12 years old, I imagined a video game about building circuits. When I was 17, I started coding it. I'm 24 now. We've sold over 10,000 copies, with just devs and no marketing. A little obsession can go a long way. And we're just getting started.
A screenshot of a blocky 3D video game.

A large circuit board with complex wiring built on top of it. The circuitry appears to be in the middle of a computation.

A character stands in the middle of the circuitry. They are a shiny, smiling purple sphere.A screenshot of a blocky 3D video game.

We are looking at a vertical circuit board which appears to be part of a larger machine. More parts of the machine are visible in the background.

The board contains many pins. Many wires are attached to the pins, and they travel off screen in all directions, presumably attached to more pins on their other ends.

There is text on this circuit board labeling the pins with obscure computer engineering terms.A screenshot of a blocky 3D video game.

We are looking at a vertically mounted hexidecimal display. It currently displays 1d000 1CFFFF.

Some of the guts of the display are exposed, showing the complex internal circuitry that powers them.

The display appears to be part of a larger machine. More of this machine is visible in the background.

Three control panels, each holding a number of switches, are connected to the display. These control panels are labeled "Address (7-0)", "Data (15-8)", and "Data (7-0)".A screenshot of a blocky 3D video game.

A spidery mess of wires and circuit boards fills the screen. Three characters, smiling colored orbs, frolic in the circuitry and look up at it in awe. They are orange, green, and yellow.

In the background, some other contraptions and structures are visible.
