People often ask me, "How is it being in Ohio?" knowing the attacks on higher education are acute here. But the fact is, nowhere is safe. Here's a story about senseless and devastating budget cuts in Minnesota. There is no political party that seriously defends higher education in the U.S. today.

Three more days to comment on NSF's attempt to smuggle in OMB's already-rejected policies of terminating any grant without cause, gutting civil rights obligations and restricting international collaborations. Submit your comment today! Then call your representatives. 🧪

Hey folks, this hasn’t gotten much attention, but remember those proposed OMB rule changes we all commented on recently? There’s a new attempt to sneak them just for NSF. We have three days to comment. Please don’t sleep on this!

Hey entomologists and ento-leaning individuals who don’t mind reposting. Have you noticed that the red-spotted lantern flies this year are decidedly smaller than last year? They seem to be here in central Virginia. Lotsa stuff can affect body size, but the first step is establishing the pattern.

Excited to share our paper in Ecology Letters @pzecology.bsky.social@jimjunker.bsky.social ker.bsky.social@wesnerlab.bsky.social! Using ~670,000 body sizes from stream food webs across North America, we show that warming does not necessarily favour smaller organisms, but depends on resource supply🌍🐟
