If you're in need of a great read, if only as a distraction from the endless doom scroll, I heartily recommend this portrait of a true revolutionary. I grew up a few blocks from Sam's house in East Memphis and often saw him out mowing his own lawn in the sweltering Memphis summer heat.

There aren't many sources of joy around, but I love watching the dead eyes and blank expression of Marco Rubio, as he goes through each nightmarish day wondering how he ended up in this shit show. You can actually see tiny vestiges of his soul screaming in agony as they die, and it is beautiful.

Redbone doesn't get nearly enough love. If people know them at all, it's because of "Come And Get Your Love", which wasn't representative of their total output. The early albums contain biting social & political commentary, much of which suits 2025 just as well as 1970. youtu.be/T_CfqhAj3P0?...

Amazing time today at the Coventry Music Museum, which I cannot recommend highly enough. The backstory here is that the museum was looking to acquire *a* car like the one seen in the "Ghost Town" music video, but ended up accidentally acquiring *the actual car* itself.
