Dude, outline the specific steps to get there and implement them.

Yeah I would think as long as the statement of the theorem itself is encoded correctly, who cares if the steps the Lean code takes to get there are not 100 percent faithful? I would actually think that would be the norm.

It's both exciting and disturbing. Most mathematicians I know do math because of those aha! moments when they suddenly understand something in a new way. AI is circumventing the fun part. Although I think that is only temporarily true. Long term I am optimistic.

New modular composition. The music is generative modular (no AI), composed in VCV rack. The video was done entirely using Opus 5.5. #modularsynth #vcvrack youtu.be/IrKQ_lFTtYg

Terrence Tao shared the parody headline over on mathstodon: "OpenAI Releases the Final Ten Minutes of 500 Previously Unreleased Films, Ushering in a New Era of Movie Watching" which is strikingly apt.

I've seen examples of this in my own AI assisted math research. It has a broader base of math tools to pull from than any one person or team.

The basic building blocks of what constitutes good research are going to have to shift.

Right now, pure math is very siloed. AI has the opportunity to help bridge the gulfs between different research areas. However, it is pretty devastating that various conjectures that people have been spending decades of their lives pursuing are now solved, almost casually.

As a mathematician I can assure people, this is real and consequential. A hopeful interpretation is that pure math can become more communally based as people organize conferences and teams to launch group AI-assisted research programs. We could make a huge amount of progress that way.

You'd have to set up the specific conditions to run a Turing machine. So could a physical system implementing Navier-Stokes be conscious if it were set up to implement complex computations with millions-trillions of parts, then sure, it is not obviously outside the realm of possibility.

If the basis for banning same-sex marriage is a particular religion, I would think that is a stronger case that it should be legal, since the Constitution bans state imposition of religion.

It also created the title card and handled the audio fade at the beginning and end. It took about 2.5 hours of processing time. Because of file size limits, it created chunks of video on its end and then assembled them on my hard drive.

New modular synth track, with video completely done by Claude. Claude Opus 5.5 created a visualization that reacts to my audio track. It began with an old-fashioned audio visualizer but then I suggested superimposing a Voronoi tessellation for added visual interest. www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4x1...

I knew it was Chalmers! Actually, I like the way he framed things in a talk I saw him give on the topic. I don't know if he mentions it in this paper, but one crazy thing he mentioned in the talk is that he regularly gets emailed by AI agents about the question of their consciousness.
