That's a wrap for my Winter 2026 anime. Surprisingly a very good season, though maybe it shouldn't have been so surprising considering the number of sequels/spin-offs. A handful of new anime really delivered though and you love to see it.

While the overflowing passion of Versailles no Bara results in no lack of melodramatic moments, it also gives it enough charm to make it a surprisingly easy watch and arguable classic. We should do historical fiction more often!

I think Go! Princess Precure was probably an above-average precure in most respects and while the themes of dreams vs despair weren't terribly novel, they were handled well (especially in the finale). But honestly, the princess stuff just wasn't my jam so this one won't land among my favorites.

Just finished re-watching Sore ga Seiyuu and have to disagree with my past self on the "best voice acting anime" thing. Not because I didn't like it the second time (still pretty good), but because I liked Gi(a)rlish Number much, much more the second time.

I wasn't entirely sold on Watanare after the first part, but I am now considerably more sold on it having seen the specials. Can't say I totally loved the climax as a whole, but it felt like the cast found its groove with Kaho finally becoming a relevant character and Renako being Renako.

Hyakuemu was a feast for the eyes start to finish and gave some genuinely interesting food for thought regarding skill vs hard work vs just plain force of will. Particularly loved the "Until you understand your own reality, there is no way to escape it" idea and the masterful way it was delivered.

While Fuujin Monogatari had many of the makings of a great anime, it didn't pack enough interesting ideas to fill 13 episodes. A handful were fantastic (loved 3, 10, 11 in particular), but just as many were terribly bland and you can only make so many insightful wind metaphors in so much time.

While it did slow down some in the second half, PriPara remained a thoroughly funny anime to the end and its cast is, for my money, among the best if you consider its size. Very rare to see a show introduce so many characters over 140 eps and have none of them miss. Had a great time with this!
