I bought an embroidery monthly subscription to make myself learn new things and so far it's working and I'm embracing the Wonky! #embroidery #Wonderfil #butterflysanctuary

Cream wool background. Giant wool and embroidered butterfly is in the middle of the photo featuring dark magenta top wings with a lavender center wool. The bottom two butterfly wings are hot pink with light blue wool for the center. The butterfly body us a dark green. The entire wool butterfly is embroidered with various stiches including stem stitch, chain stitches, woven backstitches, bullion knots (SO MANY), fly stitches, and pistil stitches. A bright yellow chain stitch star is in the upper left corner (wonky ahha), and a tiny bumblebee is in the bottom left corner. He is adorable and his name is Beeburt.

My dark grey carpet in the background is my current "table" because I sprawl out like an art goblin gobblin' up all the space I can find for unfinished projects. You can see my teal ironmatik mat peekin through ans my black laurastar iron (yes, I finally bought a sale one!) On left mid of pic. The majority of the pic is the middle white part which is my current WiP (work in progress) which is plain white cotton quilting fabric and I'm ironing on my laser cut quilt kit on top. It features various brightly colored Tula Pink cute fabrics cut out in quilting shapes like a seam ripper and a pin cushion. The words "time flies when you're sewing" is in the middle. Ignore my jammy pant leg on the bottom peekin.

The top left is the top of my current project--> a machine embroidered three part wall hanging on black plain cotton fabric and a stitched motif of a shaded cat sitting on a sink with the words "Wash Your Paws" around it. The cat is mostly blues,purples, and yellows. The sink is white and greys. The words are all white. And the art deco design around the whole thibg is bright yellows. Lil clips of various colors are around the entire edge holding the stary sky dark swirl blues colors binding on til I finish. Buut I get distracted by the Interwebz.

Old piece of orange cotton quilting fabric on top of batting and stabilizer with an oak leaf stitched out in a verigated blue and orangey toned thread using my embroidery machine and the design has a Trapunto effect where the leaf part is puffy compared to the outside squiggles. I like the word "squiggles".

#Quiltsky Am I using too much stabilizer or the wrong fabric for Trapunto? I've only seen a couple irl and they're all puffy but mine is totally flat. 😵‍💫

Dark green cotton (freebie) fabric that has 2 layers of medium weight stabilizer underneath(not shown) and depicts a swirl border and radiating star motif in the center that is machine embroidery stitched aka Trapunto technique. The thread is silver/grey Isacord that makes the design.

#Quiltsky peeps! How do I fix this design? It's looking wonky/too long and I've been puzzling too much on this quilt today HALP? 😵‍💫 Any good half square triangle patterns ot advice plz?

Tilda lavender and various blue vintage fabrics all in half square triangle blocks laying on the light wooden floor arranged like a puzzle into a wonky too long which is looking like a rippling diamond design from farther out. One skimpy, slutty chair leg is sneakily visible in the upper right corner.

The fabric is a moda's 30's yellow and a bunch of vintage fabrics in a rainbow of colors all half square traingles arranged in a diamond-y pattern.

This is the backside of the in-progress table runner. It's on a dark brown table. It's vintage Marimekko fabric. It's a white background that features large light blue flowers and green leaves interspersed. The quilting lines are vertical and in a grey color so it would blend but you can see my beginner wrinkles. I hope you feel better about your own projects now.

Wonky picture of a long table runner / art exchange project. It's a long rectangle deep purple quilted marimekko fabric featuring abstract blueberries in kind-of rows. I added a bright hot pink strip between it and the bordrt fabric (also plum colored). The binding is being held on with multicolored clips in the photo. It's laying on top of my wooden sewing table in what little sunshine we get for Wintertime.

I finished this mini art quilt for a friend; hope she likes it! The applique cats are from a vintage sweatshirt and I used freemotion quilting. #quiltsky

Full size look at the art quilt on my sewing machine table. The background is a wool checkered pattern that has greens, blues, ans purples is dark and varying tones. There are freemotion quilting squiggles holding the quilt sandwich together on top of the background. The middle features a appliqued cutout of three kitty cata and their ball of pink yarn. The binding is done in a coordinating hot pink to tie in to the yarn and their kitty noses.

Angled closer up view of the kitty cats because artsy style gives me extra happiness points since I took a long time to make this small piece 😅. It looks like the larger middle cat is looking side eye at you. You can see the quilted squiggles easier here... I tried to get them to look like a ball of yarn being tossed around by them.

Super close up of the appliqued vintage kitty cats which (I'm totally guessing that they came from a sweatshirt). I put extra batting just behind them so they'd be more puffy and be the focus and 3D. They have some crackles from age but weirdly have some random sparkles /slight shimmer. Their bodies are tan and grey and their eyes and one collar are colored to stand out.

The first block from Nancy Rolefsema's Winter Blues Foundation paper peicing pattern. It's a quilt block on a brown wooden table that features a swirling design and lots of little pieces. It's all batik fabric. The outside corners of the block are white/cream small dots. Thr hexagon shape features hot pink with muted white squares swirling around a dark shadow grey and there are hexagonal smaller lines inside the large hexagon-> middle one js blue and smaller inner one is white same as corners.

I forgot to show you the completed baby play mat quilt --> 3 layers of batting along with quilt top and Shannon Cuddle backing (YES, your Bernina can stitch through all of that)! 🎉 #PicklePie #MachineEmbroidery

Top left corner of the quilt on the white classroom table is flipped over to reveal the backside of the quilt which us cactus green shannon fabrics cuddle (minky). The top of the quilt is a square block pattern featuring cream, gold, pink, green, and blue batik fabrics arranged kinda tetris style. The quilting on each block are many swirls in a rainbow verigated isacord thread.

Close up shot of 1 and a half of the blocks so you can see the verigated thread closely. The rainbow thread looks striking against the different colors in the block (cream, gold, pink, green, and blue). The quilting is swirls in a wave pattern.

Drop down shot of the baby play mat quilt from the sky angle so you can see the entire quilt without the corner folded over like in the first picture. The blocks are all connected but every other block has been flipped 90 degrees to give pattern distinction to the quilt. (It reminds me of bandaids /adhesive medical strips for some reason?) The quilt is on a white classroom table.

On a white worktable in our quilt store classtoom sits a bunch of half square triangle quilt blocks. One half of evrey block is Moda Solid 30's yellow. The other half of my set is all vintage fabrics. My coworker made her other half from a modern bee design charm pack. We mixed them all together and started laying out this quilt design which features a diamond four triangle in the middle with rippling squares of the solid yellow coming out of it.

I'm using up vintage fabric scraps to showcase an alternative project for our Pickle Pie Co "quilting in the embroidery hoop" BOM. Cute or nah? 🥒🥧

Half square triangle blocks all pieced and quilted in my embroidery hoop using an embroidery module on my Bernina sewing machine. There are 12 different vintage colorways all also using Moda Bella Solid 30's yellow. The blocks are overlapping each other in a layered way from left to right. I tried my best to Roy G. Biv the vintage colors so it goes from brown, red, pink, yellow, green, blue and purple. The layered line of "rainbowed" quilt blocks is on a dark brown fake-wood table.

Another blue/teal/white beach towel background as my makeshift ironing board cover (don't judge). The focus is the half finished grid of small square quilt blocks with a variety of colored (pinks, electric yellow, purples, and darks) all with a moonlight vibe interspersed with blender white (with tiny metallic stars) also squares to make a checkerboard effect.

Quilted in the embroidery hoop 7 inch quilt blocks 3 by 4 of them on my brown kitchen table. Each block has quilted lil swirls (see my previous post for a close up) and features batik fabrics with a watercolor design--> there's cream in the center, then yellow, then pink/orange, then green, last blue. It's almost a log cabin style. I was trying to Roy G. Biv it a bit.

My boring grey carpeting is the the background of this picture of my embroidery hoop and polymesh stabilizer containing my newly machine embroidered quilt block. The block itself is made up of a half rainbow of batik fabrics going in order from the center--> cream, yellow, orangey-pink, green, and blue. All fabrics are a watercolory type design. Block has rainbow verigated thread quilted on top in wavy swirls moving right. Batting is Quilter's Dream Green (not shown).

I'm finally finishing my Barbara Persing Blooms quilt for a beloved 3 year old. 🌼🌸 #freemotion #bernina

A batik quilt is being completed in my sewing room under the gold Bernina sewing machine. The quilt blocks feature Barbara Persing's vibrant fabric of appliqued flowers with a circle in the middle of each one in a different color than the flower. I've freemotion quilted around in each one and did some swirlies around the beige borders.

This is a closeup of the light beige border fabric in the corner of the quilt where I have freemotion quilted the words "you are so Loved" in stitches next to a heart. There's a close up of a purple appliqued bloom on the bottom left with an orange center circle. You get a cheeky peek of batting on the right top corner and the lime green background fabric.

I finished this hideous, yet nostalgic alt project for TFQS. Fabrics were given to me by my grandma in disgust because she thought they were sooo ugly! 😆 I think they're happy colors & it gives me a giggle just to think how she'd disclaim about this in my house. #picklepie #machineembroidery
