A little exclusive this morning: after standardizing reading curricula, the city will also move to standardize the interventions used when children are struggling to learn to read: t.co/TSlkdJ8dhG

I asked former Mayor Bill de Blasio for his thoughts on former Governor Andrew Cuomo running for mayor. “I don’t think he should be mayor. There you go.”

Important to remember: NYC Public Schools policy has NOT changed. ICE and other non-local law enforcement are NOT allowed to enter school buildings in NYC, unless they have a judicial warrant. Full policy:

Today in good Mets omens… at the Thanksgiving Day Parade: the Temptations performing “My Girl,” immediately followed by a float featuring Grimace. Just keep the parade going down to the Canyon of Heroes, I got a good feeling about this. #LFGM

Actually, re-reading this, I don't see a time limit on how long the family can stay in the shelter AFTER their *second* 60-day notice. So could potentially be staying longer than the 120 days I mentioned. (After presumably having moved once following the first 60-day notice.)

City Hall is changing its policy of moving migrant families every 60 days, to allow those with kids in K-6grades to stay 120 days. Says it will save "hundreds of thousands" of $ spent busing kids to their schools - which MANY people warned would happen as a result of this policy

More than 146,000 New York City students were homeless at some point during the last school year — an increase of 23% from the year before. That’s one in eight students. ny1.com/nyc/all-boro...

Took a few months but the birds have finally, suddenly, found the window feeder we put up this summer. Mostly house sparrows and house finches, but here’s a black-capped chickadee coming in for a quick bite.

I am somewhat skeptical anyone will overtake Twitter, but the reason I opened this account is that the user experience there has gotten worse. So many bots, much of them pushing adult content. An algorithm that, despite years of heavy use, seems not to know me. Etc. www.wired.com/story/im-goi...

Users frustrated with Elon Musk’s handling of X and closeness to president-elect Donald Trump are fleeing to Bluesky—an easier migration than leaving the US.

Thousands of students who speak little or no English have arrived in city schools over the last few years. Many learn in classes where their native language, often Spanish, is rarely or never spoken. One Lower East Side middle school wants to change that: ny1.com/nyc/all-boro...

How one school wants to help Spanish speakers learn in their native language

A Manhattan middle school is launching a new dual language program aimed at allowing students to learn English without sacrificing study in Spanish.
