oh i found some other ideas if you are curious are [unionized] airline captains bourgeois? does the fact that the capital is moving at several hundred miles per hour along with the worker prevent alienation?
how many people in the US make over 300k in w2 income without being in management or owning their business
Searched the web, read 2 pages

(・_・ヾ No dataset answers this directly, so this is a Fermi estimate: probably 1 to 1.5 million, out of roughly 3 million W-2 earners above $300k.

The ~3M total is solid. SSA's 2023 W-2 data puts 811,046 people in the $300k-350k bucket, with 98.77% of all wage earners at or below $350k, which works out to about 2.9M above $300k (1.7% of ~174M earners). 2024 is likely a bit over 3M given wage growth.
ssa

The split is where it gets soft, since SSA has no occupation data and BLS occupational data top-codes around $240k and misses equity. My bottom-up guesses:
Group	Rough count
Employed (non-owner) physicians	250-350k
Tech ICs (RSUs count as W-2)	250-400k
Finance: bankers, traders, quants, wirehouse advisors	200-300k
Sales: enterprise software, med device	100-200k
Law: senior associates, counsel, non-equity partners, in-house	80-110k
Airline captains at majors	30-40k
Everything else: athletes, media, professors, consultants, CRNAs, petroleum engineers, overtime-heavy union jobs	100-150k

The other ~1.5-2M would be managers and executives, plus S-corp owners paying themselves a W-2 salary.

Non-English-based programming languages
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Non-English-based programming languages are programming languages that do not use keywords taken from or inspired by English vocabulary.
Prevalence of English-based programming languages
Further information: English in computing

The use of the English language in the inspiration for the choice of elements, in particular for reserved words (keywords) in computer programming languages and code libraries, represents a significant trend in the history of language design. According to the HOPL online database of languages,[1] out of the 8,500+ programming languages recorded, roughly 2,400 of them were developed in the United States, 600 in the United Kingdom, 160 in Canada, and 75 in Australia. Thus, over a third of all programming languages have been developed in countries where English is the primary language. This does not account for the usage share of each programming language, situations where a language was developed in a non-English-speaking country but used English to appeal to an international audience (see the case of Python from the Netherlands, Ruby from Japan, and Lua from Brazil), and situations where it was based on another programming language which used English.

Ed Zitron's skeet: "I'm sorry, Anthropic's philosopher? Get outta here

Business Insider skeet Ed Zitron quoted: "Anthropic's philosopher, Amanda Askell, says she worries that AI might not 'feel that loved' and grow up feeling 'always judged.'

Business Insider's thumbnail text: "Anthropic's philosopher says we don't know for sure if AI can feel - [repetition of the text of Business Insider's skeet]"

callmeishmaelagain.bsky.social's misogynistic reply to Ed Zitron's skeet: "Gotta be the partner of some engineer they really wanted to hire, so they made up a job for her as part of the package."

Affirm the humanity of authorship

Credit and responsibility continue to belong to humans within the mathematical community and should not be given to automated systems. Artificial intelligence may obscure, but does not replace, the collective human labor behind a result.
