For my female friends, is calling young girls I don’t know sweetheart gross or condescending? I know context matters, but in general is this kosher?

My nieces and friends kids, who I’ve known their entire lives usually, I still use it as a term of endearment. I do the same thing for young boys though too, but I use buddy. Monday was the first time someone looked at me weird because of it and now I’m questioning if it’s appropriate at all.

Maybe it’s just my southern heritage coming out, but I tend to call most young girls sweetheart. Now I typically don’t use it for young women that appear to be teenagers that I don’t know because that seems condescending to me. However for my daughters, including new kid…

When I was at the children’s hospital on Monday, I saw a little girl around my son’s age take a spill in the parking lot. She popped right back up and I asked, “Are you okay, sweetheart?” And I got a little bit of a weird look from the adult she was with.

Back in 2020 I was feeling really lousy and just weird so my wife made me go to the ER. Turns out I had walking pneumonia, didn’t know, and I was in septic shock. Spent four days in the ICU and another three on the ward. I had no swagger at the time though. Too busy with my organs failing.

That's fucking awful. 99th and Bell is not a bad part of town either. In fact, it's pretty upscale. Lots of nice houses and tons of commercial. Just goes to show that sadly, women aren't safe anywhere. I'm constantly worried about my 12 and 14 year old daughters.

I told my wife I can't wait for the day where I can go through my normal routine and I don't see anything from or about Yam Tits. I think it's been at least 11 years since that has happened.

At this point also looking at charter school positions. Don't necessarily have to have my teaching license for those. Renewing my license shouldn't be hard if I need to. It's just two tests, one on classroom management and the other is a subject matter exam. I could pass both without studying.

Had a call about a tier 2 help desk position. It's 100% in person, but it's the graveyard shift. Had to explain why someone with my resume (Masters + 15 years as an engineer) would be applying for a role that requires a lot less education and background.

You would be awesome at that. My oldest wants to become a patient advocate at a hospital.

Interview Wednesday or Thursday, they want to move fast so if it goes well I might have an offer by Friday. Hybrid, three days in office. Contract position, but I can cross that bridge when I get to it.

Does anyone know of anywhere that is hiring? Turns out being able to pay your rent is important. I've sent in ~ 275 applications and I've had two interviews. Doesn't even have to be in tech at this point. I have a Masters in Software Engineering, so I can probably do just about anything else.

Thanks, they were concerned about it lowering her blood pressure so they didn’t end up pushing it. She’s doing an MRI right now and they’re going to try a muscle relaxer.

They're talking about doing an MRI today. They're going to try another drug, not sure what it is, but I guess it can lower your blood pressure, so they're going to keep her until at least tomorrow.

Kiddo is going to be at PCH for at least another day. They titrated her up to the max dose of ketamine, knocked it from a 10 to an 8. Going to try another drug next and possibly do an MRI.

Next week is 6 months since my surgery. My incision still hurts from time to time and I don’t have feeling along the skin anymore, but all in all I feel pretty good.

DHE hasn’t worked. Kiddo is getting ketamine next.
