KoH Director’s Cut is one of my favourites! Napoleon isn’t anywhere near that lush and creative but has some nice added depth and integrity in longer form that for me make it one of his best late works (though still a tad plodding).

I think this is spot on, there’s a real impatience for traditional style politics driven by everything being turned into a graphic or meme. It makes politics into a hamster wheel where there has to be a constant roll out of updates for consumption.

Now Watching: Napoleon: Apple Cut Unsurprisingly, restoring a large number of the interpersonal scenes between Napoleon & Josephine render this a much more coherent and compelling film. The hinted at themes (impotence) of the theatrical cut become text here and it's so much more interesting for it.
