Just got out Fantastic Four and it’s really fun! Not a perfect movie but definitely felt like a return to form for Marvel and importantly j felt like it was a film about a family.

Foundation (AppleTV) is like Star Wars without Jedi, Han Solo, Darth Vader, Weird Aliens and space battles. Turns out those things are pretty important

Night Call Really fun French (I think) crime-thriller about an innocent locksmith caught up with criminals and trying to get out. Enjoyed it a lot but caution if you rent it on VOD you’ll get a horrendous dubbed version. I had to buy it to get the original French version as bonus content. Ugh

Superman (2025) I thought it was awesome! I think it’s my favorite movie of the year (not the best) and I want to go see it again because it has A LOT it wants to say about our world and this moment. Crowd loved it as well lots of cheers and applause

Superman II Starts off a lot rougher than I remembered and it occurred to me that if this was released today it would be nit picked to death and negatively reviewed. But wow does the final act absolutely cook!

Superman (1978) 47 years old and it still pretty much sets the bar for Superhero movies. So smart, genuine, & FUN! And remarkably looks great! A directorial masterpiece Also Ms. Teschmacher was a fox!

The Assessment What a movie! So much deeper than I was anticipating. This is the kind of sci-fi movie you watch go think about and then watch again. It will stick with me. Loved it! Wow.

Jurassic World Rebirth Oh boy. I guess it’s passable. Better than Fallen Kingdom on par with Dominion. Idk. I don’t really know what we’re doing here. There’s a story arc with a family that felt like watching a Land of The Lost episode. The whole arc should have been cut and saved 30 minutes

Tornado Really enjoyed this movie. It’s a straight forward samurai-western revenge mash up. Nothing terribly new here but if you enjoy this genre you won’t be disappointed. Only nit pick is the lead is so young I had a little difficulty with her fight scenes. The cast is superb though

Jurassic World Dominion. Better than Fallen Kingdom I guess but not exactly compelling. There were some interesting ideas and I suppose having the OG cast back excited people but we’re not exactly talking about Han Solo & Princess Leia.

Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom. Not good. Feels like I’m watching a spy kids level movie. Wow

Talladega Nights Probably the comedy I associate most with Bush era AmericaTalladega Nights is less laugh out loud funny and more I’m watching this while doing laundry but as that it works really well. Now I’m off to go get kicked out of an Applebee’s

Snake Eyes A delightfully unhinged movie with Nic Cage at his over the top best. De Palma takes a Hitchcock thriller, has it snort 3 lines and away we go. No notes

F1. Saw this in IMAX and had a great time. It’s a glossy, fun movie mostly about how unbelievably handsome Brad Pitt is but that combined with spectacular locations and exhilarating race scenes and I’m happy

La Femme Nikita I expected to love this movie but I did not connect with at all and I’m not sure why. I know it’s gor a following but I found the main character/performance really grating. It’s definitely not a bad movie this is entirely a me issue. Still disappointing because I had high hopes

Rust Okay not done yet but yo wtf!!! The inciting event in this movie is the accidental shooting of someone kind of due to improper firearm safety. I had no idea. What the fuck. (Not really a spoiler I’m 12 minutes in)

Movie poster for Rust. Just faces of the actors

Untouchables. De Palma was such a master. Haven’t watched this for maybe 20 years and it’s striking how conservative politically it’s coded which I’m sure has been written about a ton. That aside Untouchables hums. It’s a western that then shifts seamlessly to a Hitchcock thriller. Loved it!

Phase IV is a weird & fun movie. The story is simple. Some stuff goes down in space and then the ants get real sassy! Modern general movie watchers probably won’t like it but if you’re an enthusiast who likes the low/mid budget sci-fi of the 70s you’ll like this one.

Phase 4 movje poster. A human hand attacked by ants

F1 week movie 4. Ferrari. This was not a fun movie. I found it almost unbearably boring

Jeremy @jhansen1975.bsky.social · 22/06/2025

F1 week movie 4. Ford vs Ferrari. A movie about male friendships. Bonding over a common interest, not talking about feelings but still unquestionably having each others backs. And then dying early death. I love this movie, it’s a great hang.

F1 week movie 3 is 1971s Le Mans starring Steve McQueen. While technically it’s a masterpiece with how the racing is filmed and the stunt/crash work is something to behold it just didn’t work as a movie for me at all. There’s no story. It’s just a race but like I could go watch an actual race

F1 week movie two Rush. For the first hour this was a sexy movie. Sexy cars, sexy bodies, sex. But not very compelling and then it takes a turn and becomes absolutely riveting! Also Hemsworth is fantastic I would have loved to see his career in a different timeline

28 YEARS LATER So much weirder than the first two Which led to a very interesting world! A beautifully shot film. I think it will be divisive but I really enjoyed it

Gearing for 28 Years tomorrow! I haven’t watched weeks since it premiered and remember not liking it much but maybe that will change. The beginning is absolutely brutal. The cast is kind of stacked by 2020s standards

Watching 28 Days Later in prep for Thurs and I forgot it starts with a chimp being clock-work-oranged. I remember when this came out how radical it was that the “zombies” could sprint! They weren’t supposed to be to be able to do that! Also I don’t think we get a Walking Dead show without this

If AI wrote a Die Hard rip off you’d get Cleaner. About 20 minutes it takes a surprising & interesting turn but then it’s quite boring. The movie is 1:40 minutes long and I shit you not for the first 1:10 minutes Daisy Ridley is stuck outside the building and the terrorist are inside. Wtf

The Menu. Got around to watching this after seeing dozens of clips on TT. There’s an eat the rich aspect that I didn’t find all that interesting but was fun! On the other hand I find myself wanting to further dine on how I felt towards the chef and the staff. That’s the main course!

“After tonight the 3 of us won’t be together again” “after tonight?” Wild Things is a deeply problematic movie of hot 90s trash in the best ways w/ peak Matt Dillon, Bill Murray playing a shit heel lawyer, Kevin Bacon, Neve Campbell & Denise Richards. I had a lot of fun with it

So I Married and Axe Murderer. I tend to find Myers a “wee bit” annoying so this film had ground to make up. But while it’s not great I ultimately thought it was charming and there are some scenes with secondary characters that killed! And holy moly Nancy Travis slays. So pretty & likable

The evidence is mounting that the median liberal American has a wildly different understanding of where we are as a country than the median Democratic politician, and that those two understandings are simply incompatible with each other.

EVIL DEAD - 1981 Watched this for the first time and while I didn’t love it I can see why some people do. But what blows me away is to think Sam Rami was 21rs old when he made this! you see the brilliance with each shot. Plus much like The Thing it’s uses practical effects it and still holds up

11 Rebels. In the vein of 13 Assassins and Seven Samurai but not as good (but what really is) Still some very fun action scenes and violence made for a fun watch. My only complaint is that the antagonist is really underdeveloped unlike 13 Assassins which caused me to not be as invested

It’s not the “liberal bubble” that drags down Bluesky, it’s the fact free constant drumbeat of “Dems don’t do anything” — often and especially right after a Dem does something. The knee jerk doomerism is just fucking dumb and annoying and clogs up every thread
