National monuments may be on the chopping block. Despite bipartisan support for protecting public lands, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum ordered agencies to produce action plans to carry out Trump's "energy first" agenda. Buried in that order are instructions to review all national monuments.

Northern Iron and the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency are still engaged in a legal fight over pollution levels. Neighbors say dust and soot from the facility continues.

The Great Lakes hold one-fifth of the world's supply of surface freshwater, supplying drinking water to up to 40M people in the U.S. and Canada. Despite the lakes' significance, Canadian oil giant Enbridge has been shuttling toxic fossil fuels through the Great Lakes since the 1950s.
