Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 16/08/2026Nice! I understand that figuring out the relevant flows is an app-specific exercise, but do you have any pointers on what has worked well for you? Thinking of starting with "a bit of everything and some more", and decluttering later if necessary. 110 1
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 01/08/2026add the people who opened a tab for later viewing and you might be in the 100s soon 011 1
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 31/07/2026That said, you are one of the people I'm interested in engaging with, so I'll consider this an invitation to do so when relevant! 110 1
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 31/07/2026For me things went from a small platform which I wanted to promote by engaging, to a flurry of interesting content which I can barely keep up with. I'm also mindful about how I engage with (new) people, which often leads to the easy option: staying silent and observing. 110 1

Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 11/05/2026Yes! Been thinking about this for a long time. Reviews are rarely trustworthy these days. If you had the raw reviews (make them 5 star for all I care) available, and then various aggregators with different profiles (web of trust, or any other angle, the options are many) can filter things their way. 010 1
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 12/03/2026I had a similar reaction when doing a naive migration from eslint, but I didn't push far enough to know for sure that I reached a dead end. If you're open to share, I'm curious what are (an example of) the concrete limitations you are hitting with this feature in particular? 110 1
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 03/09/2025Cool! Does this mean that pnpm monorepo users can move off of 'hoisted', back to default 'isolated'? pnpm.io/settings#nod... Can barely remember which issues 'isolated' caused in the first place, so I wouldn't know how to validate it easily. 210 2
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 19/04/2025Decided to pick up Blue Prince the other day. Lovely game which unravels itself time and time again. You start having no idea what to do and keep discovering new layers. I'm amazed by how many times the game let's you find yet another dimension to weave into the gameplay. 4151 15
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 08/02/2025Does this mean that vite plugins such as react compiler will be easily usable again? 010 1
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 01/02/2025Thanks for the reminder! Played it a few years ago and really liked it. I recently played Road 96 which has similar vibes in a way (journey towards a far away destination, exploring along the way), but is also much more emotional (and a fair bit longer, maybe 10h). Maybe you'd enjoy it :) 010 1
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 01/02/2025Yeah, it seems like an odd thing to hard code. Every app will have different needs. If this really is a pure "UX optimization" and is not based on technical constraints, I'm surprised the React team would do that without making it configurable. 030 3
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 01/02/2025Hey! Just wanted to thank you for bringing this question up in public. I had no clue and am happy to be aware. 140 4
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 25/01/2025Personally, I tend to follow those I run across who have something interesting to say, and I rarely spend any time purposefully unfollowing. That's how I ended up following 1000+ people. 120 2
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 25/01/2025Nice! I've been holding off on the EA to avoid missing out on the full experience, but now you got me intrigued, so it might be time to reevaluate 😄 120 2
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 19/01/2025Nice :) Still getting acquainted with edge-to-edge. Is the new thing how the feed scrolls underneath the status bar rather than being clipped by it? 110 1
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 17/01/2025Sounds like an endless chase to me. I'm sure there are reasons it is not feasible, but if you insist on banning apps due to sharing data with China's gov, maybe ban, you know, _every_ app doing that, not just the current poster child. 010 1
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 17/01/2025Haven't played with them myself, but iirc each dom component is its own webview, so maybe it's not compatible with things relying on a global scope? 🤔 010 1
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 17/01/2025Congrats! Been using the beta for the last week or two, and it's been a nice ride. 030 3
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 11/01/2025Didn't really think of it like that before. Are you basically saying that the reason values are never undefined is because Suspense forces you to wait for them not to be, and using Suspense hides the opportunity to conceive less waterfally solutions? 150 5
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 11/01/2025Probably. Crazy how eager people are to reply to things that are obviously not addressing them. 0200 20
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 08/01/2025Congrats :) You wrote briefly about your interactions with App Store reviewers, but how did the Play Store review play out? 110 1
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 04/01/2025Reading this Bluesky post, I assumed "Communication" to mean communicating with users. Reading the chapter, I assumed it meant communicating among maintainers. Reflecting a bit, I think it's meant to be both? While there's definitely overlap, I also think the needs are often very different. 010 1
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 04/01/2025Wasn't aware of this, but it sounds like a footgun, and I think your proposed solution makes sense. 020 2
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 29/12/2024Do you think it is difficult to support, or just not considered? Maybe it's not a huge effort, and showing your interest could give the maintainers a reason to implement it. 200 2
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 22/12/2024Interesting to see work on a React Native SDK. Been exploring that space a bit today, and it's a lot emptier than I had anticipated. 000 0
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 20/12/2024We're talking about these buttons, right? (I think the preview is too narrow, so click for full context) I've yet to dig deeply into this stuff from a dev PoV, but interesting to hear about your experiences. 100 1
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 18/12/2024Found it funny that yesterday's GitHub outage page offered 3 support channels: 1. A GitHub link, not very helpful when it's down. 2. A link to a status page. All green of course. 3. A link to a Twitter account, which by default has posts sorted by popularity, surfacing a 2019 outage as the top post. 180 8

Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 09/12/2024I love isolation: isolate for "local" z-axis control without bleeding into the global z-index hierarchy. Glad to hear it is useful in more ways. 010 1
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 07/12/2024Thanks for the encouragement Dan. Showing how you work through things as a well respected community member does inspire others to follow your lead. I think good things will come from that. 060 6

Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 30/11/2024Yeah, I think that is poor framing. Surveil people and they won't misbehave, sure. Most wouldn't to any significant extent anyway, but some would. More importantly, you will also signal a lack of trust, quenching morale and sense of agency, which are long-term differentiors. 000 0
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 29/11/2024Looks useful to me! I think everyone does bits and pieces of this, but it's nice to have someone thoughtfully collect the totality of what a PR template could/should include. 0111 11
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 29/11/2024Good question. I'd say a proper fan account would be labeled as such, so that account could be considered an impersonation, but might not have any ill intent. Still potential for confusion, so I'd probably report and let others figure out the verdict. 010 1
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 29/11/2024I don't pay that close attention, but I'd report obvious impersonators. 110 1
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 29/11/2024Agreed. Add a follow/follow all button and they are the same but more capable. In the meantime, are you aware of conversion tools such as nws-bot.us/bskyStarterP...?nws-bot.usConvert BSky Starter Pack to List 130 3
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 28/11/2024Thanks! Been a little curious about it since I saw it mentioned around here in what feels like a year ago. Will be interesting to see how useful I'll find it. 010 1

Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 26/11/2024Funny. I found it hard to make the later choices, as the color was almost indistinguishable from the previous one. I ended up on Hue 169 (greener than 77% of the population). 100 1

Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 25/11/2024Yeah, same slug. Never had a reason to differentiate that. 000 0
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 25/11/2024I _think_ we achieve the same thing just using a single project, but I might be missing some nuance. Basically the app config is conditioned on which environment is being built, so what comes out on the other side is a different app (own package name) which can be installed in parallel. 100 1
Joel @jgarplind.eurosky.social · 25/11/2024Just skimmed it, but I agree, this is a huge step in the right direction. An issue I ran into today was that having 4 environments is a non-starter. Allegedly a 4th env is being worked on for internal purposes and may be exposed to us users as well, but I was surprised to face such an issue. 100 1
