I’ve chosen this image for a show in Mexico City and the exhibition will be presented in collaboration with the Japan Foundation and hosted at the Asociación México Japonesa. This is huge and I thank you for your support. Let’s go! "Fortune favors the brave" #photographersonbluesky #photography

Oimachi, Tokyo. Often, I hear people talking about what street photography is or should be, and I actually don't really care about labels, monikers, genres, and whatever else too much. I just dig hitting the streets, and Oimachi is one of them #streetphotography #photographersonbluesky #photography

"under construction". Japan posts/creates/generates the most obvious communications, no matter the platform. Thank you. I'm often unsure of what is happening. Good morning, from Tokyo! Beyond the touristy hotspots, there’s a vast selection of decay that is seldom documented, except by yours truly. Many of these signs will be gone one day, so photographing them now is a win for me. #urbanphotography #streetphotography #photographersonbluesky #photography

My next door neighbor, a 92 yr-old granny, came by today to give me some peppers. She's so delightful. I barely understood a word she said, but we used Google Translate to help us have a nice little conversation. She said it's nice to see our lights on at night - gives her comfort.

I'm finding it increasingly difficult to create videos these days. It's not about my creativity, it's that i don't think I have anything really different to say. OK, question. What do you want to see from a photographer who lives in Japan? www.youtube.com/@TokyoGritan... #photographersonbluesky

So many, "I bought a house in Japan..." videos, but none of them actually talk about visas (30+ available). How long are are these people staying here? It would be cool to tell viewers a little more, IMO.

That earthquake last night was pretty gnarly. 2am and the alert on my phone went off! And to tell you the truth, that jarring sound freaked me out more than the quake. 😂 Anywho, glad to be safe. Did anyone here feel it?

I went to see my family last Christmas, and as weird as it may sound, I only used a film camera to photograph my getaway. This is the beginning of a short series. I hope you dig it. #photographersunited #photographersonbluesky #naturephotography #LeicaM6 #KodakGold

My wife and I traveled up and over to Yuzawa 湯沢 last weekend. Word around the campfire is that bears are/were active in the area, and I’ve always wanted bear spray, so I went and bought some so I could walk with a cavalier mindset while strolling the mostly empty streets of the town. 🤓 #photographer

Badass vintage signage in Jiyugaoka. Groovy design, probably made in the '80s? Who knows. The one thing I DO know is that I don't see too many signs like this anymore. I'm no toritetsu (撮り鉄), but I am starting to dig certain views of trains here in Japan. There's a scene that I gravitate towards, and I think it's the medium or long shot. I like a good leading line, and the distance helps sometimes. Anywho, here's another train pic for ya. #trainphotography

There are images from overpasses in Shinjuku that will never be seen again. The structures don't exist anymore or will be torn down soon. This photo is more sentimental than anything, because I love the tiles, not only from down there, but from above - where I used to sit or walk. #photographer

I’m fond of images like this. More often than not, I find some cool leading lines to folks who are walking in the distance, etc. Not every single image achieves this, but I like showing a bit of context as to where they are, etc., too. This is Kyoto. #urbanphotography #streetphotography #Kyoto

In Japan, train photographers are called toritetsu (撮り鉄), which combines the word for "take a picture" (撮り) and "railway" (鉄). It is a specific subculture under the broader umbrella of railway enthusiasts, known as densha otaku (電車オタク). I’m none of these, but I fancy a train photo here and there.

I like the long shots. I think long/wide shots can show a bit of context for the “story”. My story is that they’re taking a much needed smoke break. The area is packed with izakayas and other eateries, so maybe they’re getting a bit of quiet time, too. #photographersunited #photographersonbluesky
