Charles Bukowski gets cable, first thing he happens to see is Eraserhead, assumes all things on cable will be that weird and wonderful, then never enjoys another program again

The night Scorsese screened The Last Waltz, Coppola made sauce for everyone, taping a wooden spoon to a running projector and placing it over the pot so it stirred the sauce while they were gone watching the movie. When they returned, the sauce was perfect. This is the highest level of being Italian

Just learned that there was a Superman comic in 1949 where the plot is Orson Welles has been abducted by Martians, but no one believes him because of War of the Worlds lol

Laughing picturing Jack Nicholson in a movie theater watching Ferris Bueller's Day Off, just doing the Kubrick stare while everyone around him is laughing and having a good time
A New York Times excerpt from 1986 that reads: Nicholson complains about ''conglomeration'' narrowing the studio's vision. ''Do you feel like a creative person trapped in an uncreative age in the industry?'' ''Well, you know, last night I saw - what's that movie -'Ferris' something," Nicholson answers. '''Ferris Bueller's Day Off'?'' the interviewer asks. ''Well, that movie made me feel totally irrelevant to anything that any audience could want, and 119 years old," Nicholson answers. He sighs deeply and continues: ''Believe me, everyone else watching it liked it. And you know, I literally walked out of there thinking my days are numbered. These people are trying to kill me.''

Tarantino desperately wanting to be an actor while having the worst screen presence of all time is so much funnier every time Scorsese strolls into a role and just nonchalantly nails it

Netflix (2018): Thanks to stock value and a head start on streaming, we have more money than anyone to finance the white whale projects of Martin Scorsese and Orson Welles, where box office receipts won't matter, only the art. Netflix (2024): Wanna watch a YouTuber fight an old man?

Grizzled thief in a movie looking at all the pieces of a heist coming together and saying out loud to no one, “Son of a bitch, it just might work,” except it's me looking at Bluesky tonight. This really feels like the first Twitter alternative that just might work.

This interview came out election week, so we all missed it, but Spielberg having no time for a 16-year-old Josh Brolin with actor brain is too funny to get lost in the shuffle
