Devastated to hear the entire Marvel Studios’s Visual Development team has been let go. This was my old home but more importantly, the home of so many incredible artists and peers. Absolutely heartbreaking 😔 Sending all my impacted peers my love and support. Please reach out if you need anything!

Disney Layoffs Hit Marvel Studios Hard

The Academy Award-winning artists behind some of Marvel's biggest hits are among the casualties from company wide staff reductions.

Dreams died today. My heart breaks for those that built something amazing. MCU broke box office records and created a culture of heroes.

I wish I could work on my IP more. Don’t get me wrong I’m grateful for freelance work, but the grind and stress over income, housing, and medical are just overwhelming. Let alone it’s a terrible time to work in the industry.

last month I was nearly banned from FB marketplace with just one warning because a meta AI thought i was posting counterfeit sneakers, and when I tried to appeal the decision, it was impossible to speak to a human

Ah you know, trying to figure it all out, just trying to stay above water.

But to clarify, I have many friends who work there, and they are all amazing people. I'm just talking about the process HR has developed. IT IS THE WORST.

By writing this, I am 1000% sure I will never work for Riot. Riot Games hiring process is the worst process I have ever gone through. I've been through the Gauntlet several times, and that alone was 1 time too many. I do not recommend. It's the worst.

I've worked for over 15 years in this industry, and I am sometimes told I don't have the experience.

I've run teams as an art director for an art outsourcing company. I've been an instructor for many schools and a guest speaker for several festivals. I need an answer. Am I blacklisted somehow? And for what?

Still, nothing. For the ones I interview with, I make it into the final rounds but never get the job. I’ve spoken to countless recruiters, and they all ghost me. I've been able to work on major motion pictures and huge franchise TV shows, and I have worked in the video game world as a freelancer.

I really need to understand. I applied less than 24 hours ago. I completely understand that the industry is in the worst shape most of us have ever seen. I've applied for jobs every week for the last two years. I've applied for jobs that I thought I would at least get an interview for.

Some practice, hoping to do comic book covers someday! Might have to do more like this as a series of the cosmic characters. #marvel #galactus #silversurfer #fanart
