In North Carolina statements like this are usually followed by the question “you’re not from around here, are ya?”. This said with a heavy southern accent—it’s normal for all kinds of folk here to pray about literally everything and talk about it. It’s more abnormal not to—don’t mean your backwards.

I grew up with 2, both teachers. However, they also were children of the depression and WW2 and took a longer view of history. I think both would be horrified by this—my mom taught what was referred to as “special needs”. She had seen what can happen when some kids are ignored and warehoused.

My dog, who I love (see side pic), was VERY fowl mouthed today. He broke into the neighbors chicken coop, stole one of their young chickens and gleefully murdered her. He’s NEVER done anything like this before. Never chased a cat, squirrel. . .nada—it defies logic. He’s in time out.

I started reading The Parable of the Sower again by Octavia Butler written 1993. Described as a dystopian classic of survival following cataclysmic global climate change & economic crises. It takes place starting Feb 2025 after the inauguration of Pres. Donner. Everytime I pick this up it freaks +

THIS happened to my agency & several other mental health & addiction services agencies providing crisis/acute care services years ago in NC. What a f’ing disaster. Work had been done; budgets set—had to fire ppl overnight, rip out programs. MI/SA cts suffered. It was devastating. Many closed.
