Without this, their appetite for crushing the defiant youth will only grow. And I can’t bear to witness another tragedy unfold in my homeland. With all the weight of hope, George from Georgia

If you can offer even limited support - just enough to undermine the regime’s claim of close ties with the U.S. - we may finally be able to break their illusion of invincibility and push toward a free, fair election.

Now, we have a historic opportunity to set things right and become what we have always aspired to be: A country where people live with dignity; A country where the government listens to people; A country where people do not have to choose between imprisonment and servitude.

General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 23/07/2025
But that would miss a much simpler, and perhaps clearer, point: We, the Georgian people, have fought for centuries for our rightful place among civilized nations. Time and again, we have been left to face the Goliath alone.

I could provide numerous geopolitical arguments for why it's important to support Georgia. I could speak at length about how the U.S. benefits from a democratic ally in the Caucasus region. I could even point to the lies and slander the current regime has spread about the U.S. and Mr. Trump.

The regime is increasingly hostile toward democratic forces in Georgia. Leaders of various opposition parties are already in jail. Free media is under assault. Members of civil society live under a constant threat of imprisonment. The situation is dire.

Right now, I am a little guy resisting a Goliath that has captured the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of power – as well as the majority of the internet & media space.

However, there is a major difference between standing up to an autocratic system with powerful allies or standing alone.

I love my country. I want to live in my country. And I am willing to die so that others here can continue living here. I do not expect you to solve all my problems – my fight will continue regardless of your decision.

Dear Senators, I am an average Georgian citizen, and I have been fighting against the autocratic shift in my country for more than a year now. I know the MEGOBARI Act has been placed on hold due to your decision, so I want to share a few thoughts in an attempt to change your mind.

Finally, I wanted to say: thank you for your continued support! I am forever grateful to every follower and/or supporter of Georgian democracy.

They will either have to kill us en masse, which they absolutely cannot do (we're just too small for that), or they will eventually have to give up to our demands.
1342
General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 19/07/2025
Secondly, it shows our enemies that we're here, and there is no amount of intimidation tactics that is going to work on us. There's no compromising our souls.
1342
General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 19/07/2025
Firstly, I think this shows our allies that we're consistent in our request, and they should do everything within their power to speed up targeted sanctions against the regime.

3. It shows that people REALLY do want free and fair elections and the release of the political prisoners.
1382
General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 19/07/2025
2. It shows that the core of the protest movement is still very much here, even though you do not see big numbers every evening.
1402
General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 19/07/2025
Historically, Georgia has protested during autumn, winter, and spring; however, it's the first time in probably 100 years that we're protesting in the summer; shattering yet another propaganda narrative "gEorGiaNs caNnOt pRoTesT iN sUmmuR".
1423
General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 19/07/2025
1. Day 234 of the protest with such a high turnout in burning heat on Saturday (a lot of people in Tbilisi go out of town on weekends in summer) is crazy.

Today was an important day for Georgia; here's why:

General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 27/06/2025
20/🧵final The Soviets had a plan: “Georgia without Georgians.” And right now, that plan is being fulfilled. Silently. Steadily. Deliberately.
1103
General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 27/06/2025
19/ The regime may soon offer them citizenship. Voting rights included. Once this happens, Georgia’s political future is no longer in Georgian hands.
170
General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 27/06/2025
18/ These countries include: Russia, Iran, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Ghana, Eritrea, Yemen, Congo, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria, Sudan, Uganda… And many others.
160
General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 27/06/2025
17/ And this ties into something much darker: Real estate and regime profits. High-risk countries have visa-free access. Many exploit legal loopholes to stay long-term — or forever.
160
General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 27/06/2025
16/ Most immigrants are: Russians, Belarusians, Indians, Azerbaijanis, Armenians, etc. Very few learn Georgian. Very few assimilate. This matters.
171
General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 27/06/2025
15/ Immigration numbers — who replaces them: 2022: +179,778 2023: +205,857 2024: +135,811 Georgia is being repopulated — but not by Georgians.
160
General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 27/06/2025
14/ Emigration numbers — Georgians leaving: 2022: -125,269 2023: -245,064 2024: -121,425 We are still leaving. En masse.
160
General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 27/06/2025
13/ Recent net migration numbers: 2020: +15,732 2021: -25,966 2022: +54,509 2023: -39,207 2024: +14,386 Average: -223 — flat. But that’s misleading.
160
General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 27/06/2025
12/ Now let’s talk about migration. Since 1994, net migration avg: -40,726 That’s tens of thousands more people leaving than coming in.
160
General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 27/06/2025
11/ Since 2017: Avg. deaths: 48,412 Avg. births: 45,901 Avg. annual natural loss: -2,511 persons This trend isn’t reversing.
160
General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 27/06/2025
10/ Population loss due to natural decline: 2020: -4,017 2021: -13,960 2022: -5,799 2023: -2,542 2024: -4,488 Total loss: -31,806 Not COVID — it’s the collapse in birth rates.
160
General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 27/06/2025
9/ Meanwhile, deaths each year: 40,000–50,000 consistently Georgia has been at sub-replacement level since 2020. We are shrinking.
161
General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 27/06/2025
8/ Births in 2015: 59,000 Births in 2025: 39,000 That’s a sharp, consistent decline. We’re not making enough babies to replace ourselves.
161
General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 27/06/2025
7/ Median age in 1994: 32 Median age in 2025: 39 That means half the country is now older than 39. We are aging rapidly — another demographic time bomb.
161
General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 27/06/2025
6/ Population breakdown: Under 18: 24% (880,633) Pension-age: 20% (726,873) Working-age: just 57% (2,097,000) In short: fewer workers supporting more dependents.
161
General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 27/06/2025
5/ This demographic collapse is a ticking time bomb. It destabilizes borders, agriculture, infrastructure, and regional economies. Empty villages, aging populations, vulnerable frontiers.
171
General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 27/06/2025
4/ More regions: Mtskheta-Mtianeti: -34.12% Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti: -35.04% Samtskhe-Javakheti: -42.80% Kvemo Kartli: -29.44% Shida Kartli: -28.49% 🧨 Internal migration to Tbilisi is hollowing out the rest of the country.
183
General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 27/06/2025
3/ If you look closer at regional data, things look even worse: Tbilisi: +2.55% Adjara: -13.31% Guria: -39.98% Imereti: -44.90% Kakheti: -34.58% Racha-Lechkhumi & Kvemo Svaneti: -58.28% More in next post.

1/🧵 #UnderstandingGeorgia – Chapter 1: Population and Demographics Using data from Georgia’s National Statistics Service — while I don’t always trust their practices, it’s the only data available. What I found is deeply alarming.

I am going to pin this post and add more and more chapters as we go, until I create a complete list of Georgia's problems or get arrested by the regime for speaking the truth. Here goes...

I want to undertake a project, #UnderstandingGeorgia, that will dive into the details of Georgia's problems. I want to touch on everything, from history to demographics, to economy, to emigration and immigration patterns, to anything else that might be relevant.

SERIOUSLY? This region is being handed over to Russia on a silver platter. Welcome to the Russo-Iranian land bridge. Or do you think NVIDIA opening a couple of facilities in Armenia is going to prevent that? I am 🤏 close.

Kallas says the sentences of Georgian opposition politicians are not proportionate, and sanctions on judges are possible. They will return to the issue in July when foreign ministers meet again.

General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 23/06/2025
The things we are asking for are so simple... - Don't send any mixed messages. - Don't allow them to financially benefit from you, OR at very least, don't allow them to go on vacations in your country. Today, two more political leaders have been arrested in Georgia. And here's the crazy part:
1185
General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 23/06/2025
We have been fighting against the regime since 2020; did anyone support us? No, @charlesmichel.bsky.social helped the regime legitimize the previous rigged elections. Since 2024, we've been protesting almost every day. And what kind of support do we get from our allies?
1195
General George Fella @jezko.bsky.social · 23/06/2025
Oh, is that example too old? Okay, here's a more recent one. Excuse me, we did fight a war against Russia in 90s; did anyone give a damn? Still too old? Alright, we did fight a war against Russia in 2008; did anyone bat a fucking eye?
