“Monument Valley” 2025 #art #fineart #photo #photography #landscape #b&w #artist #monumentvalley

The black-and-white photograph captures a less familiar corner of Monument Valley, an iconic location in the American Southwest. On the right side of the frame, a large rocky mesa rises prominently, showcasing the distinctive shapes and lines characteristic of this ancient landscape. On the left, a dirt road winds its way toward a small settlement, where scattered trees and modest structures blend seamlessly with the arid surroundings.

The desert terrain is dotted with low vegetation and shrubs, while the sky is dramatically covered with clouds, adding depth and a cinematic quality to the scene. The black-and-white tones heighten the sense of timelessness, emphasizing the textures of the ground and the clouds over the vast expanse of the valley. This place, straddling Arizona and Utah, embodies the grandeur and tranquility of American nature at its most pure and untouched. Jesús Cardiel. 2025

“Path of Solitude” 2008 #art #fineart #photo #photography #b&w #fog #artists #artshare

The photograph depicts a black-and-white scene of a path lined with pruned trees and streetlights. There is a foggy atmosphere that envelops everything, reducing visibility in the background and creating a melancholic or introspective mood.

A man walks alone along the path, with his back to the camera, accompanied by a small dog a few steps behind him. On the left, there is an empty bench and some low vegetation, while the trees, with gnarled and leafless branches, are symmetrically aligned on both sides of the path. The streetlights on the right add an urban touch to the scene.

The composition suggests solitude or reflection, reinforced by the use of black and white and the fog that obscures the horizon. Jesús Cardiel. 2008

“The Deception of Eggs” #art #fineart #photo #photography #magritte #b&w #ready-made

The image shows two eggs stacked on top of each other in a clean, minimalist composition with a white background. The lighting creates soft shadows and contrasts, adding depth to the eggs and highlighting their smooth texture.

Below the image, the phrase “Ceci n’est pas un oeuf.” appears, written in cursive, which in French means “This is not an egg.”. This phrase is a reference to the famous work by René Magritte, “La Trahison des Images” (The Treachery of Images), where he painted a pipe with the phrase “Ceci n’est pas une pipe.” (This is not a pipe). The intention of this phrase is to point out the difference between the representation of an object and the object itself, suggesting a reflection on perception and reality. Jesús Cardiel.

“Cash” 2013 #art #fineart #ready-made #artshare #b&w #photo #photography #concept @bsky.art

The photograph depicts an everyday object: a door lock (doorknob and latch mechanism) transformed into a conceptual artwork. The metallic doorknob shows a worn finish, with marks suggesting use or deterioration, which adds a raw and industrial aesthetic. Inserted into the cylinder of the mechanism is a folded banknote, an element that becomes the narrative focus of the piece.

The work conveys the idea that “money opens all doors,” alluding to the tragedy of the human condition and the widespread insensitivity in a world governed by capitalism. This symbolic gesture highlights how monetary values often replace ethical and emotional principles, reflecting a critique of corruption, the lack of humanity, and the prioritization of material wealth over human connections.

The neutral background emphasizes the object’s elements and reinforces the conceptual strength of the message, aligning with the tradition of the “ready-made,” where an everyday object is decontextualized to invite deeper reflection on society and its values.

“Seeds of Treasure” 2014 #art #ecoart #fineart #artshare #photo #photography #ready-made

The photograph presents a powerful visual narrative that uses the green bean pod as a symbol of nature, life, and the fragility of the organic, contrasting it with the rigidity of an object designed for preservation and safeguarding: a wooden box. The decision to enclose a pod—an ordinary element of nature, yet fundamental to the continuity of life for containing seeds—within a crafted box suggests a message of conservation, almost elevating the act of protecting it to the level of a ritual or a reverential act.

The photograph not only documents an object but frames it within a context of environmental reflection. The idea of preserving something as small and seemingly mundane as a pod in a treasure box suggests a critique of how we take nature for granted. This deliberate act of exalting the organic is an invitation to reconsider our relationship with the environment, viewing it not as an infinite resource, but as something finite and worthy of reverence.

“Oculus Lines” 2024 #art #fineart #photography #photo #oculus #wtcpath #nyc #artshare @bsky.art

In this photograph, we can see an architectural detail of the Oculus, designed by Santiago Calatrava at the World Trade Center. The image showcases the white ribs or structural fins that form part of the roof of the structure. The curved lines unfold harmoniously, creating a repetitive and symmetrical effect that evokes dynamism and lightness. The lighting, likely coming from natural or reflected light, bathes the surfaces with a soft warm tone that enhances the textures and the minimalist design of the space.

The framing emphasizes the verticality and curves, highlighting the iconic nature of the design. It’s a photograph that beautifully captures the elegant and futuristic essence of the Oculus. Jesús Cardiel. 2024

“The illusory door” 2012 #art #fineart #artist #artshare #photography #photo #b&w #egypt @bsky.art

This photograph features an intriguing interplay of contrasts in black and white, with a minimalist composition. The scene depicts two individuals in a narrow passageway, likely in a historical architectural site in Egypt. One of the figures, possibly a woman wearing a hijab, leans against one of the walls while looking toward the other person, who is slightly illuminated by the light in the background. The intense light at the end of the passage creates a high contrast, giving the architectural details and shadows a dramatic and evocative atmosphere. Jesús Cardiel. 2012

“Innocence” 2012 #art #fineart #photography #photo #egypt #people #innocence #artist #artshare #b&w @bsky.art

The photograph captures a simple yet symbolic moment near the majestic pyramids of Cairo. The scene is dominated by the massive, weathered stone blocks that form the base of a pyramid, emphasizing the grandeur and historical significance of the setting. At the center of the image, a boy is seated on a horse with a calm but attentive demeanor, addressing a girl who is sitting on one of the stones. The girl, dressed simply, appears to be observing the boy as he seems to be offering her the second mount, which stands riderless beside the horse he is on.

The composition, rendered in monochromatic tones, enhances the serene and timeless atmosphere of the location. The horses, steady yet relaxed, bring a sense of life to the monumental surroundings, while the interaction between the children suggests a human and everyday connection that contrasts with the historical magnificence of the background. The soft lighting highlights the textures of the stones, the horses, and the human figures, giving the moment an authentic and tranquil feel. Jesús Cardiel. 2012

“Consumo” 2010 #art #fineart #photography #concept #photo #b&w #consumo #consumption @bsky.art

This artistic photograph is deeply symbolic and rich in visual contrasts. It depicts an outstretched hand in black and white, with a cracked texture resembling dry or parched earth, evoking imagery of desolation, fragility, or decay. From the palm of the hand, a thin stream of sand or dust falls, emphasizing a sense of loss, the passage of time, or transience.

The use of high contrast and the simplicity of the white background enhance the shape of the hand and draw all attention to the cracks and the falling sand, creating a minimalist yet profoundly meaningful atmosphere. The composition also conveys an implicit narrative about the connection between humanity and nature, exploring themes such as mortality, erosion, and the impact of time.

It is a striking piece that combines visual and conceptual elements, leaving room for multiple interpretations depending on the viewer. Jesús Cardiel. 2010

“Dualismo” 2014 #art #artist #photography #abstract #photo #dualism #fineart @bsky.art

In this black-and-white photograph, the double exposure technique transforms a pair of feet into a visual symbol of duality. The overlapping silhouettes seem to dance in the dark space, while a meticulously integrated geometric pattern envelops the forms with a texture that evokes both the physical and the abstract. This contrast between the organic nature of the feet and the rigidity of the geometric design reinforces the tension between the human and the conceptual. The minimalist composition and the use of deep shadows invite the viewer to explore the balance between materiality and introspection, proposing a reflection on the dual nature of being. The image shows an artistic composition in black and white, using the technique of double exposure. In it, several stylized white hands appear to emerge from a uniform and minimalist background. The hands are arranged in symmetrical and curved positions that evoke the shape of petals or flowers. The upper part of the composition seems to form a central bud, while the lower hands gently open as if holding something or shaping a fully blossomed flower.

The texture of the hands is smooth, almost ethereal, and the contrast between the light tones creates a sense of delicacy and purity. The symmetry and organic shape of the hands produce a harmonious and dreamlike visual effect. Jesús Cardiel. 2019

“Dreams” 2012 #art #fineart #photography #photo #artist #b&w #egypt

The scene depicts a serene moment by a river Nile in Egypt. In the foreground, two children are visible: one is sitting on the rocky shore in a relaxed pose, holding something in their hands, while the other stands in the water, facing away from the camera. On either side of the image, there are two traditional boats, known as feluccas, moored by the riverbank. The sails of the feluccas are furled, and in the background, low-rise buildings and lush vegetation form the horizon. The black-and-white style of the image accentuates the contrasts and lends a nostalgic and tranquil atmosphere. A seagull flies overhead, adding a touch of motion to the otherwise peaceful setting.

“Gateway Arch” 2019 #art #fineart #photography #photo #artist #b&w

This black-and-white image shows a dramatic perspective of the famous Gateway Arch in St. Louis, Missouri. The composition emphasizes the lines of the arch, which rises majestically toward a cloudy, dark sky, creating an impressive visual contrast.

In the foreground, there are wide, textured stairs leading to the base of the arch. On the stairs, a young couple (a man and a woman) can be seen, both gazing at the arch, adding a human touch and a sense of scale to the immensity of the structure. The atmosphere appears cold and melancholic, reinforced by the absence of color and the dense clouds in the sky.

The image conveys a sense of solitude and awe in the face of architectural grandeur.
