I am so proud of my friend @karlavalenti.bsky.social for this honor, and so grateful that more kids will find her beautiful work.

We need to keep talking about how weird it is for people to think they should have a say in reading choices for anyone's kids but their own. You're not in charge of what other people's children eat or wear or when they go to bed. Why on earth would you get to choose what they read?

Books. When buying books for gifts this holiday season, please don't buy from Amazon. Please shop at your local independent bookstore/bookseller. Ask for recommendations. If they don't have a particular book in stock, ask them to order it. Support creatives, local businesses, and your community.

This time of year, we’re preparing our store to welcome extra visitors. We love the opportunity to share our favorite reads this year, to help customers find the perfect gifts, and most of all, to create a community of readers. Come see us at Main Street Books in St. Charles, Missouri!

What an absolute delight to open this site and be greeted by so much #kidlitart. Hi, I’m Jess, picture book author and bookseller at a charming indie bookstore in Missouri. I love my jobs. 📚 ❤️
