And was it Stephen Fry last season who commented on Cat being really sleepy - in a way a traitor would be who is up later at night than everyone else? I enjoyed that observation.

Appreciate you might have already seen this Stephen, and it is 20 minutes long(!), but you might enjoy watching this: youtu.be/twDvxNooI_4?..., based on what you're saying in this thread!

Do you have any info you can share about how you made the case? I think it could be helpful to others to know what arguments worked within an institution to secure this change.

The most insane thing about this #MECFS scandal, beyond all the suffering and neglect, is that it costs hundreds of times more in economic losses every year than it would to fund the research that could eventually decrease this burden. The degree of short-sightedness involved is astounding.

Abandoned, dismissed and gaslighted: there is no excuse for the way ME sufferers have been betrayed | George Monbiot
Changes in guidance and science seem to have little impact on millions of devastated lives. It’s a social crisis playing out behind closed doors, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

Have clicked! Is there a difference for you/other authors (e.g. % of money you receive) between the press and websites like bookshop. org? I usually use that one as it says it supports UK indie bookshops, but if it makes a material difference to authors it would change where I shop!

I was obsessed with In Our Time back when I was in sixth form (too long ago 😅) but for some reason I drifted away and haven’t gone back - I’ll definitely revisit, and appreciate the reminder from you both to do so!

…and which often leads me down rabbit holes of doing more research on a topic after. I’d be open to anything though! Often the more in depth content is the more enjoyable, and listening to experts talk about things they care about is often brilliant and engaging regardless of subject matter.

I’ve only ever delved into niche areas (mostly history of medicine/disability) and would like to develop a broader knowledge base and hopefully I’ll find elements that particularly grab me and I can get more into it from there! A bit like I find with Ologies which I enjoy…

Which history podcasts do that? I’d love any recommendations you have/ any from your spouse - I feel like I don’t know enough about history to be able to discern a good podcast from a bad one

Brain DAMAGE? No, surely not! I think you just mean ☁️✨ brain FOG ✨☁️ If it was brain damage *surely* it would be on the news and someone would have done something about it by now! 🫠

…or maybe it *is* a Covid effect, given we are six years into a mass disabling event that we know causes neurological damage and we know schools, given they are poorly ventilated spaces, are settings where repeated infections are highly likely.

I don’t understand why the “school closures were bad” folk never go on to question/discuss “how can we make schools safe to keep open next time”, surely they should care just as much about providing clean indoor air in schools? But that’s not an issue I see those people discuss.

@martinlewis.moneysavingexpert.com thank you for sharing information about student loan overpayment refunds! I hadn't realised I overpaid £264 and am now getting it back in time for Christmas.

Hi - what are you using to track lactate? I already use visible with a polar monitor but have been interested in (but not known where to start with) looking at lactate levels.

I finally deactivated my twitter account. While I rarely posted, the ability to aggregate my own Covid newsfeed of experts, invested lay people and other long covid patients has been invaluable to my own learning and sanity. I hope I can find that same community here.
