… because those fans of adult best sellers were young readers once. ❤️ My daughter has started reading the Fancy Nancy chapter books, and they SPEAK to her. This essay is a nice little read if you’re feeling blue or burnt out, or if you need reminding about why we do what we do. Link to follow 🧵…

“Certainly, writers of adult best sellers command the megabucks and become household names. But how many of their fans fling themselves into their arms squealing, ‘I love, love, love your books!’” - Jane O’Connor, about the importance of fostering a love for reading at an early age. (NYT, 2018) 🧵…

Josh just referenced Homestar Runner in the latest episode of You May Contribute a Verse, and now my day is completely derailed because I forgot about that show, and now I’m falling into a rabbit hole of nostalgia.😂 @brennajeanneret.bsky.social @joshmonkwords.bsky.social

Almost my entire art process lives on the iPad. It has been great for travel (from my desk to the couch), but the downside is staring at a screen all day. I get so many migraines. I’ve seriously considered transitioning to traditional art. I write most of my manuscripts in physical notebooks 📓

Thanks for championing this book from the very beginning, Justin! It was so fun working on this with you.

Thank you! And I’ve definitely been there…just staring at the piece, trying to plan. I’d love to see what you come up with!

I’m excited to share that my debut authored + illustrated picture book, BILLY AND THE HOLE, arrives summer 2026 from Flamingo Books! It has been such a pleasure working with this team, and I’m grateful for everyone who has had a hand in helping the baby grow up. We’re almost there! #kidlit

I’ve not read Gianni Rodari’s work, but I like his vibe, and I’m excited to dig into his books. Here’s a great video + post from Chrissie Wright about Gianni Rodari, what Mac Barnett says about him + the heartbreaking thing that happens (in education) when reading skills eclipse reading joy. #kidlit

Hi, #kidlit community! I missed the last #kidlitartpostcard day, so I’m sharing one of my favorites in the meantime. I’m an author/illustrator in the PNW. Most of my art is on IG, but I’m going to start posting more here, and I’d love to connect with more of the kidlit community on this platform :)

Shoutout to @dansantat.bsky.social and A First Time for Everything…my 11 year old (reluctant reader) read it, loved it, and shared it with his 12 year old cousin, who read it, loved it, and made his mom read it too! The first book that my son has shared (on his own, even!) because it’s that good.

Adria is five stars! I remember I queried her a couple of years ago, and she passed on my book, but she referred me to some agents who she thought would be a good fit. It was so kind and thoughtful. She gives so much of her time and knowledge to this community. Looking forward to this episode!
