Finally got around to Wikipedia’ing how Ozone Park (neighborhood in Queens NY) got its name
Etymology
The name "Ozone Park" was chosen for the development to "lure buyers with the idea of refreshing breezes blowing in from the Atlantic Ocean to a park-like community". At the time, ozone, now known to be a harmful pollutant at ground level, was popularly thought to be a healthful component of fresh air such as mountain or sea breezes.

The big flag for me is that the author’s projections goes out to just 2030 (10x energy use by AI). Take them out to 2060, and the multiplier looks closer to 150x. So to first order you need to take many of his projected numbers and multiply by 15.

"As the nation's premier science organization, and one that performs lots of analyses for the government, the National Academies would seem to be in a position to have its concerns taken seriously by members of Congress. And, given that the present and future of science in the US is being set by policy choices, a meeting entitled the State of the Science would seem like the obvious place to address those concerns. If so, it was not obvious to Marcia McNutt, the president of the NAS, who gave the presentation."

"It may seem prudent now to keep our heads down and hope this storm passes. History tells us this is unlikely. Free inquiry and the public exchange of our findings pose a real threat to authoritarian government. If we continue to preemptively change our language, pretend that the deep inequities of class and race and global power that shape our world are not relevant to the governance of our institution, or demonstrate to both Trump’s agents and the public that we will fold under the slightest pressure, we will find ourselves, perhaps not so long from now, without any dignity left to protect."

19°25'16" N 155°17'13" W, Summit Elevation 4091 ft (1247 m)
Current Volcano Alert Level: WATCH
Current Aviation Color Code: ORANGE

Activity Summary:
Episode 13 of the ongoing Halemaʻumaʻu eruption began at 2:36 a.m. HST on March 10. Fountains reached heights of 400-500 feet (120-150 m) by 3:30 a.m.

Episode 13 was preceded by small, sporadic spatter fountains 15-30 feet high (5-10 m) that began at approximately 1:30 p.m. HST on March 10 within the north vent and continued to increase in intensity until 6:35 p.m. HST when spattering could be seen on the streaming webcam (V1). Spattering continued to increase during the night and into the early morning hours of March 11. Lava erupted from the north vent at 2:36 a.m. HST and high fountains began about 10 minutes later. Fountains from the north vent are now 400-500 feet (120-150 meters) by 3:30 a.m. HST. Lava flows from the north vent have covered 20-30% of Halemaʻumaʻu crater floor.

Measurements of atmospheric OH during an eclipse in 1999: agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.... #chemsky 🧪
Hydroxyl radical and ozone measurements in England during the solar eclipse of 11 August 1999
Joanne P. Abram, David J. Creasey, Dwayne E. Heard, James D. Lee, Michael J. Pilling
School of Chemistry, University of Leeds, UKThe solar eclipse on 11 August 1999 provided a rare opportunity to observe the remarkably dynamic character of atmospheric photochemistry. OH formation is driven by sunlight, and the rapid changes in light intensity associated with a solar eclipse provide a unique, yet natural perturbation experiment to study the response of OH and the ensuing chemistry. Highly time-resolved measurements of OH and its rate of primary production were made at ground level during a 97% solar eclipse at Silwood Park, Ascot (51°25′N, 0°41′W) on 11 August 1999. The solar ultraviolet flux fell almost to nighttime levels, and the OH concentration decreased dramatically to below the detection limit of the instrument (2.1×105 molecule cm−3), before increasing again. The OH concentration is well correlated (r=0.88) to its rate of primary production from ozone photolysis. Shortly after maximum eclipse the concentration of ozone fell to 60% of its value at first contact. The study provides a striking demonstration
