Wifey got me my first ever TIFF ticket for Julian. Beautiful movie about self-acceptance, queer joy, and how important it is to have people in your life who love you for who you are. Gorgeously animated too, so many moments where the warmth jumps off the screen. Fantastic!

I think we lost something when controls and hardware became standardized, though it's been undeniably valuable for accessibility to have there be A Standard. What I'm saying is that games could've been something greater if we kept cooking on DS games where you gotta hold the thing like a book

And subsequently there's a hopeful (maybe dumb) part of me that thinks the AYN Thor and similar retro emulation devices with weird form factors, or bespoke devices like Panic's Playdate, are going to open the door to specialized hardware that allows for more interesting ways to play games

Interesting finding out the reality of the situation with Poinpy’s Netflix exclusivity, delisting, and “return” with Devolver, but I’m so overjoyed to know that Poinpy - like all great ideas - picked it’s silly name first and worked backwards:

"Funny story is, the title being 'Poinpy' was the first thing that was decided about the game, even before we had any concept for it. Me and the lead (sole) artist on the game were trying to get a project going together and we sort of jammed out ideas, one of which was his 'Poinpee' sketch (shown below)," explains Fumoto.
