I’ll say it’s the best Parliament Funkadelic album not released by Parliament Funkadelic (even though Clinton was involved in its recording)

I’m going to guess that they knew what he was going to say but are cutting ties to save face after the backlash.

Had a lot of fun bumping this in high school. Probably my favorite collection of Quik’s beats on an album, as he worked well combining sampling with live instrumentation.

I mean, I’ve been to Venice, and there is a neighborhood/monument called the historical “Jewish Ghetto.” It’s technically the first “ghetto” ever where Jews were restricted to live starting in the 1500s.

Probably need to make a few of these.

I find the lack of a Bay Area show… upsetting.

This album has a lot of sentimental value to me. It’s also really good, as one my favorite groups slightly recalibrated their approach musically to make a highly entertaining project.

When Phonte put out his long awaited solo album, it certainly sounded like he was going through some s**t. Regardless, he gives a masterful lyrical performance and has great chemistry with all of the album’s producers.

If you’re expecting a lot of Rakim rapping, you should probably temper your expectations. Regardless, the album works pretty well, especially as a meeting of DPG/Wu Tang and West Coast/East Coast sounds.

I’m enjoying this first episode of the Jay/Rick Rubin series. Jay is really good at breaking down his technique, content, and inspirations. That said, it’s bugging the rap nerd in me that he keeps referring to Fatback Band’s “King Tim III” as “King Tut.”

See, one of them had “Thang” instead of “Thing.” Major distinction.

I am of the opinion that PAC’s first two albums are his best. Still can’t decide on the order. Prefer the messy early 1990s production and the righteous anger.

This Casual album showcased his lyricism and ability to make Bay Area slap.

Holds up as as great as everyone said it was a quarter of a century ago. And really among the best albums ever.

An excellent piece on one of my favorite albums. The Unspoken Heard forever. (My first job was barista-ing alongside Blue Black/Rob at Higher Grounds in Charlottesville VA, and I learned so much about music, life, friendship... It, in no small way, set the path that led me where I am today.)

Really is one of my favorite albums, and certainly one of the best of the 21st century thia far. Perfect marriage of the beats and rhymes.

Still working my way through the Clippers/NBA punishment coverage that broke yesterday. Most interesting revelation? A lot of Pablo Torre’s findings were confirmed because Lawrence Frank took official notes on a criminal conspiracy.

Might be my favorite album of theirs. Quality lyrics and meshing of hip-hop and reggae/dancehall.

Czarface as a group have been killing it since 2013. Glad doing a whole album with Hardy is getting them some deserved shine.

I do take solace in knowing that we’re getting “American Vandal,” but with Gorilla Grodd. But I knew once they announced that, the other tweet had to be fake.

Don’t get involved in Harry Potter bullshit and tell your friends not to get involved in Harry Potter bullshit. She is just about the worst of the worst. And she gets paid off of all of that.

Watched every ep. Bummed that there was no follow up on the cliffhanger finale. Wasn’t there a brief renewed interest in it when it showed up on Netflix a while later? Obviously nothing ever came of it.

Just going to say that I’ve also opted for the CD and tape route when it comes to buying physical product from indie artists. Though I’ll occasionally make an exception with Backwoodz.

I got like 20 minutes/half an hour into it, then stopped (had to go somewhere) and haven’t returned to it. It seemed… fine to that point. But it’s been like two weeks since and I haven’t felt the need to turn it back on.

In also went to that Mandela Parkway location a few times after it opened. Then I heard all the stories and hoped it was BS. But there’s just too much smoke to ignore. I drive by the burned out spot pretty often, and it just makes me sad for what could have been.

Three months ago I went to the Lafayette location. Got there early, in case there was a line (and one did form). As it closer to opening time, it was increasingly clear there was no one was there. Me and the others waited 20 minutes past when it was supposed to open before we gave up.

Yeah, but Lucha Bros and FTR distributes as well. And to my knowledge, none of them knew Eddie personally, even though they were all influenced by him. Same goes with Liv.

This isn’t uncommon whenever either AEW or WWE visits Minnesota. AEW did multiple similar “tributes” to Eddie at Full Gear 2021 in Minneapolis (which also happened on the anniversary of his death)

Was not really a fan of Star Trek as Event Horizon this week. Especially since it didn’t really turn out to be a Star Trek episode.
