I’ve had luck with smaller art fairs where the tables are pretty cheap and the volume is good; but there is no such thing as a lunch break during those events, either. It’s a very furry convention thing, and since those are non profit, there’s more room for empathy.

It sucks, but those larger for profit entities are just that: for profit. Unfortunately, they also know that people will line up to go sell there because the volume of sales is often too good to pass up. Some places, you even gotta pay for power. (Granted, some venues also charge for that)

I used to sell furry, now I’m in general art markets. That’s different too. The crowd and how much people are willing to spend varies greatly in each market; it’s honestly really interesting.

You can see that difference in other event types that have creators/merchants selling goods, too. People that have exclusively sold at furry and nowhere else don’t know how nice it is there relative to everything else at times 😁.

The operation philosophy is completely different. In most cases, it’s closer to comic con—meaning, for profit. The venues are also much bigger (and more expensive). And some of that also has to be the fact that you’re paying for the volume of attendees. If someone won’t pay, someone else will.
