First day at Polarsteps! 🎉 Dream unlocked: joining a design founded consumer product that I personally use and love!

I recently got my first road bike and I’m loving every single moment of it 😄 Got the bike as a way of crosstraining for my running on my way to my first marathon, but didn’t expect to have *this* much fun!

One year of freelancing! And what a wild and rewarding year it's been. Met amazing people, worked with talented teams, contributed to inspiring products, and even explored new spaces like healthcare, which was incredibly meaningful. Something new is on the horizon though... 👀

Looking to upgrade my office chair situation. Anyone has good experiences with the Steelcase Gesture or the HM Aeron? Any other recommendations?

The hackintosh subreddit is filled with goodbye posts and pictures of new M4 Mac minis. 5-years-ago, I was building PCs to run macOS because Mac hardware was abysmal. Now, people want Apple's hardware to run Windows and Linux because it's so good. How the turntables...

Happy new year! 🍾🥂🎆 This year was a great year for running for me, with plenty of PRs. Ran 1300 km, 300 km more than last year, 200 km short of my goal for this year. Hope 2025 will be an amazing sports, but above all, health year for you all! ✌️

If this book teaches one thing, it’s how timeless great design is.

I just found the 2016 book “Designed by Apple in California” in the attic again. It’s full of amazing gems 🤩

This thing is such an advertisement for Apple Silicon though, not an apples to apples comparison but my M1 Mac mini idles at 5W, this Mac Pro idles at 150W 💀

The Chrome extension is a bit wonky though, so definitely a better experience on Safari.

Jesper van Haaren @jesper.co · 03/12/2024

lol, outside your family, not organization 🤦‍♂️

Jesper van Haaren @jesper.co · 03/12/2024

Yep! Family sharing and/or sharing with people outside of your organization. Apple also made a Chrome app, so it works cross platform.

Apple has passkeys. I believe they even had them before 1P. Creditcards can be put in Safari autofill and/or Wallet. I’ve put secure notes as encrypted notes in  Notes. 1P has become less reliable and too bloated over time.  🔑 is super simple and better integrated.

Jesper van Haaren @jesper.co · 02/12/2024

Full in on Safari and recently also switched to Apple Passwords (from 1P). Love Safari. So much more simple, faster and energy efficient. Also better for privacy reasons.

Consistency gets a bad reputation and I think that's because people conflate it uniformity. Uniformity–remaining the same in all cases and at all time-is what happens when consistency jumps the shark. Uniform stays the same, always, no matter what.

Others have noted it but I will too: The big reason Bluesky is so hot right now is that the people who add value to social media - the frequent posters in specific fields - are here now, talking to each other and creating the "spectator value" that draws users and attention.

In short, the right people are working on this, they're not out to build a Twitter clone, they're out to reshape the web, and help us return to the original promise of an open platform, a sense of ownership, and the ability to share with each other on our own terms.

Can't believe they haven't solved this yet. Huge UX flaw. Meanwhile I need to download third party tools that need to record my screen in order to fix this.
