The last chapter of my thesis has just been published… and it’s the one I enjoyed the most. Manipulative field experiments are hard work, but also incredibly fun! Getting to spend around 200 days out in the Aussie Alps was the highlight of my PhD.

❄️🔥💧 #PlantReproductionWeek 🌱🏔️ Snow, fire and drought: How alpine and treeline soil seed banks are affected by simulated climate change by jeronimovazquez.bsky.social & Susanna Venn in @annbot.bsky.social #openaccess article 👉 doi.org/gtchcp #PlantScience
Climate change-driven shifts in snow cover, fire, and drought influence seed bank germination, affecting future plant recruitment in high-altitude ecosystems. These changes may reshape alpine plant community composition, highlighting the need for further research on resilience and adaptation.
