Calling all indie game devs! I think video games should be more accessible. As a game designer you should still make a game everyone can enjoy without needing to use these options but having them is always useful. What do you think?

This goes against everything I have heard about #indiegamedev marketing like: socials don't convert to sales, only game devs watch and it's easier to 'borrow' another persons audience than to build one. Building your own gets you much more value in the long run so I seems like doing both is ideal.

I got 41k views on my first long form video and 164k total views on my short form videos and I am so grateful for all the support I gathered in only a few months! Which is so amazing so it may not be replicable but who knows.

I really wanted to get some more eyes on my game because it is a passion project I spent years on. So I created shorts, tiktoks, reels and long forms YouTube videos on Koboo's development. It only took a month of work until the content really started to do well!

My game Koboo took a month longer than planned to release so I only emailed streamers a few days before launch which was a huge mistake! It lead to only very small creators playing my game which was great but lead to no extra sales sadly 🥲

I replaced the image in 1 minute and yet it completely ruined my day. I have had many small creators cover my game and enjoy it which has been so great and I love the indie game community! Sadly, bigger creators have so many random people trying to get their attention.

This happened to me because someone online sold me an AI asset before it was a well-known thing I knew to avoid. I learned you can't ignore this stuff like I was trying to do. Also, I used this AI asset only once in my game library, not even on the store page or in the game.

All my excitement that they messaged me went away and I almost had a panic attack when I found this out. I made a game that was anti technology, messaged them using Bluesky so I could avoid having my art be used in AI.

It turns out that one of the images I used was made with AI and worst of all I learned about this in the worst possible way… I was not aware of this until MY FAVOURITE STREAMER mentioned it to me while deciding to cover my game (they probably won't now even though I added stuff in the game for them)

I wanted to add some hi-res art to my store page but unfortunately my last game was a financial flop and my Kickstarter did not make much money so I could only hire an artist for one piece of work and the rest of the art I used was store bought assets.

In October 2022, I bought a pretty good high resolution asset from a game dev market. I am a pixel artist so I don't know much about higher resolution art and I have bought hundreds of assets to help me prototype faster. I did not think much of it at the time.
