A single living tree can host up to ONE TRILLION microbes inside its wood alone. Distinct communities thrive in the heartwood and sapwood, tiny ecosystems powering the forest from within. Nature’s secret cities, one trunk at a time. 🌳

The ocean is not just a surface to cross. It is the planet's lungs, its thermostat, its largest carbon store, a protein source for billions, and a highway older than any road. Manage it as the life-support system it is, not the dumping ground it's become.

Park Avenue used to have a park in the median of it, hence it's name. It's time to bring that back.

It's International Day of Forests! FACT: Forests are the source of 75% of the world’s accessible freshwater. Without forests, life would have evolved very differently on our planet.

Mono-culture farming devastates the rest of nature. Farmlands continue to lose much of their wildlife, bees, birds, & insects. So we don't mourn the Quagga, Eastern Elk or drained wetland. We never knew them. We each inherit a slightly emptier world & call it normal, a shifting baseline syndrome.

Biodiversity loss is the climate crisis' undervalued twin. Stopping climate change must also mean building resilient habitats for land animals and ocean life. 🐋

Since the end of the last ice age 10,000 years ago, the world has lost one-third of its forests. Two billion hectares of forest land, an area twice the size of the United States, has been cleared. We cannot lose another acre.

There is a certain calm that comes from standing beneath trees. The air feels softer. The noise fades. Perhaps it is because, in places like these, the world remembers how it was meant to be...nothing rushed, nothing wasted.

Societies that integrate green spaces, natural light, and ecological awareness into daily life consistently report higher measures of wellbeing. Living in alignment with nature may be one of the most profound and evidence-backed investments we can make in human flourishing.

🌲 Tree cover density in North America. Cutting 25% of its original forest cover since colonial settlement, we’re sitting at ~32% forested today. Scientists detail 40-50% protection of land (forests, wetlands, grasslands) is needed to reverse the biodiversity & climate crisis.

The UK is pulling back on climate aid promises! The Biodiverse Landscapes Fund designed to protect 6 regions: Africa, Asia, and South America. It’s now reportedly reducing to 2. At a moment of accelerating biodiversity loss, shrinking aid is the opposite of what science calls for.
