There’s always a stereotype of white people not locking their door. Now imagine not looking your door but also leaving the door open. In an urban neighborhood of Toronto no less. And who came in? A fucking coyote! #coyote #toronto

Today, around 11am after leaving our front
door wide open as we waited for our cleaner
to arrive, a coyote pup entered our house
without us noticing. We assume it went
straight upstairs and immediately in to the
primary bedroom.
Once our cleaner arrived she went upstairs
and calmly called out to us that there was a
fox in our bedroom. It was not a fox. It was a
coyote. On our bed.
Long story short, the police came, Toronto
Wildlife came and the pup was rescued and
taken in for mange treatment. And our
cleaner had a much bigger job than she had
anticipated.
It was a quite a day.
PSA: Please keep your doors shut so coyotes
don't wander in to your house and shit on
your floor lol

It has been difficult to watch the marked rise in antisemitism across our city and
across our country. Many Jewish community members who were born here,
raised families here, and felt a part of the fabric of our country are now
questioning whether it is safe for them to stay here. For this reason, | felt it was
important to walk with our neighbours at the Walk with Israel. My participation
was an expression of solidarity with members of our local Jewish community
who are experiencing rising antisemitism and fear.

| know for some, this is disappointing to hear, given the painful war that has
unfolded with such great human cost following the brutal attacks that set off this
devastating cycle of violence. | feel pain and compassion for the impact of war
and the resulting human suffering. Compassion for those affected by war should
never translate into hatred, intimidation, or discrimination against people in our
own communities because of their identity or heritage.

The complexities of this conflict that show up in our city are centuries old, and |
would rather focus on bridge-building and constructive conversations here in
Canada than wade into geopolitical issues. This, | feel, is the best way | can
effect change locally.

Standing with our Jewish neighbours at a time when many feel isolated and
unsupported is one way | can let them know they belong here and that |
recognize the pain caused by the ongoing rise in antisemitism.

As expected, #Willowdale is not happy that Yonge street will be realigned during subway construction #steeles #yongeSt
Planned Temporary Long-Term Reconfiguration of Yonge Street North
NY33.27: Metrolinx Yonge North Subway Extension — Steeles Station
North York Community Council has deferred consideration of Metrolinx’s
request regarding long-term temporary road closures and related construction
staging for the Yonge North Subway Extension at Steeles Station. It is important
to note that this deferral has no impact on the project delivery timeline, as
construction is slated to begin next year.
| am concerned that we are moving forward with a planned rerouting of Yonge
Street without sufficient community engagement. This will substantially change
how people drive in and out of Willowdale at Steeles, and local residents and
businesses should have a chance to learn about this and potentially provide
some feedback. While changes to the plan are unlikely since the necessary
expropriations have already happened, plans are underway. However, you never
know whether pertinent information might be shared that could improve the
outcome. This re-routing could last for several years.
| am concerned about the economic impact on businesses on the east side of
Yonge Street that will be losing Yonge Street frontage. Metrolinx has committed
to staying in dialogue with businesses, providing clear signage, and mitigating or
even compensating for economic loss, as it has done in other projects.

My North York councillor colleagues supported my request for a deferral of this
item to the July 7, 2026 Photo of the slight diversion of Yonge street that will be necessary by the new subway construction of line 1 to Richmond Hill

Lily Cheng is super mad that her motion to bring parking lots to subway stations failed. She says Toronto lacks vision. Her "vision" is inspired from Taiwan, Japan, and she's disappointed Toronto doesn't want to follow her parking lots vision. #topoli #lilycheng
| am a firm believer in the importance of leading with vision. Vision has the
power to bring people together, galvanize action and garner resources. A lack of vision is a permanent sentence to the status quo. And that is how many
experience our city. The size of our bureaucracy further entrenches the status
quo, making innovation and agility difficult. Trying to effect change is even
harder

| brought forward my deferred motion to explore a visionary new standard for
future subway stations for the city, to be established in partnership with
Metrolinx, only to have my fellow councillors send it to policy purgatory by
referring it to staff without a report-back date

| left that meeting disappointed and disillusioned. My colleague, who is also
Chair of TTC, Councillor Myers, said in defence of the motion in rebuttal of the
referral motion: We’re going to study doing a study?

The last few years, | have had the privilege of experiencing transit in Japan,
Korea and Taiwan. These experiences both depressed me about how far ahead
they are of us and inspired me to imagine how we could be better, which led to
the motion | brought to council

The new stations being built across our city are not very different from the ones we built decades ago. | am still startled by the standalone box stations for the
Eglinton Crosstown

| want something better for the city. All new stations should have public
bathrooms, platform-edge doors, and underground real estate assets that can
help fund transThe debate for this motion also highlighted the gap between the suburban and
downtown councillors. The idea that people should “transit to transit” was used
to counter my request to explore commuter parking lots and passenger pick-
up/drop-off (PUDO) areas in new stations outside the downtown core.

| know in Willowdale it could take someone up to 40 minutes by transit to reach
transit, compared to a 5-minute car ride. Our lived reality is difficult for many of
the downtown councillors to imagine. The lack of passenger PUDO for the
Avondale community at Yonge/Sheppard station has meant constant illegal
parking and congestion on Anndale Drive.

While my motion has now been referred back to staff, | intend to bring it back to
council in the new term (if | am re-elected), as | refuse to accept the mediocrity
and lack of vision that currently govern our new station designs. While this may
be too late for the new Steeles station already designed, we should not give up
fighting for a better, more modern future.

The divide between downtown interests and perspectives on inner-suburb
experiences will continue to be a divide in Toronto politics. | invite all mayoral
candidates to better understand why so many in North York lament the
degradation of services and investment post-amalgamation, and to commit to
policies that consider our needs and perspectives.

As disillusioned as | was after this meeting, | had to muster my optimism to be
