Forgot to post last night, despite the score. 1st to use my 2 lowest. Pippen struck out Ted Williams in latter's 1st pro at bat. Deasley someone I studied because he member of Giants team with fewest players (1885, with only 13), & I figured I may as well use them all.

Shied away from Bill McKechnie lower left.

Smith last 2 way player prior to Shohei Ohtani. Allen last to achieve ultra rare non-CG SHO. Another to do it, Earl Whitehill, would've been good answer lower left but I wasn't sure. Newsom only non-HOFer featured in poem "Line-Up for Yesterday". Weyhing career hit batsmen leader.

Took a while on mid left spot; was worried all I thought of would be too high for the 0. Sweeney just barely got me there! 1st to use my 2 lowest. 8/9 Giants. Looks like I maybe could've got an all Giants 0 with José Cruz, Jr. upper left.

1st to use my 2 lowest. Brainard's nickname "Ace", and is why elite pitchers are called that to this day. Wilson hit over .360 in his available Negro Major Leagues stats, but didn't get much of a shot in NL/AL.

Forgot to post this yesterday

Looks like I would've had the 0 if I went with Don McMahon top left. 1st to use Rile, my favorite for 6 WAR category. He only did it once, and as a 2 way player. Dizzy Trout the single season bWAR record holder for players with that surname.

All Giants. Tried to remember Jackie Brandt for upper right, but couldn't do it. Turns out he's a higher answer anyway.

1st to use my most used player Orengo. Took my time with this one. Was not home Blyleven.

Started seconds after it went live, so got to see Quiroz at 100%. Kinda neat.

Happy just to escape with a win. 1st to use my most used player Orengo. He was name-dropped in a song alongside many Giants stars and legends. But he was just a utility guy, so for years it puzzled me. Then I learned he worked for Giants after playing career. Mystery solved.

Likely a 0 had I gone with José Cruz, Jr. over Pinson and Ray Dandridge over Suttles. Suttles being much higher than usual is among most surprising scores I've seen, as he barely played short and fits all but left column. 1st to use my 2 lowest. Ewing and Britt fit every defensive position.

Jeremy Sclar @jeremysclar.bsky.social · 04/07/2026
First to use Deasley, one of franchise low 13 players on 1885 Giants (also franchise record for winning %, not surprising since nearly half the team HOFers who were at or near their peaks). Forgot José Cruz, Jr. mid left, though.

Jeremy Sclar @jeremysclar.bsky.social · 03/07/2026
1st to use Richardson. He among franchise low 13 players on 1885 Giants. I studied a bit when I realized I could reasonably use all 13. Had already used 7 or 8. Have since used the others. Aardsma 1st player ever alphabetically, a distinction previously Henry Aaron's.

1st to use my 2 lowest. Not sure why I went with Thomson over Camilo Doval, but glad I went with Bell over Orlando Cepeda. Britt fits every defensive position, All Star, and single season ERA and AVG. And close to HOFer in name, so easy to remember.

Was able to remember Charlton from last time that Reds-Rays combo gave me fits. But I still need to study Hunter Strickland.

Whew! Held my breath on some of these, including Holmes whom I saved for last, but I pulled it out! Specific OF positions can be difficult for me.

I've fallen a bit behind on these again. Here, had a bit of a brain fart with Lee. I think I got his tenures with the Texas franchises mixed up. Still, he wasn't that high.

Jeremy Sclar @jeremysclar.bsky.social · 19/06/2026
7/9 Giants. I think most I could've had was 8/9. I did pass on Carlos Valderrama mid right, though, as I wasn't quite sure where he born. Won't make that mistake again.

I believe Oliver was the last active teammate of Nolan Ryan

Jeremy Sclar @jeremysclar.bsky.social · 18/06/2026
Forgot Cody Ross. Oops. 1st to use Wiltse, a loophole answer as he did play in Federal League. He also had a 10 inning no hitter; no one has completed one longer.

Jeremy Sclar @jeremysclar.bsky.social · 13/06/2026
1st to use my top row guys. Asa considered best pitcher of 1860s, was nicknamed "ace", & that's why elite pitchers called that to this day. Gettig & Burnett played all defensive positions (though Burnett didn't actually pitch despite appearing as a pitcher - that's gotten me before).

Jeremy Sclar @jeremysclar.bsky.social · 12/06/2026
8/9 Giants. Had I known I was going to do that, would've used Dick Bartell lower right for all Giants.

3 years before teammate Barry Bonds would break a longstanding record held by Henry Aaron, David Aardsma did the same - by becoming the 1st ever player alphabetically.

Jeremy Sclar @jeremysclar.bsky.social · 09/06/2026
Forgot Russ Ortiz mid left. I'll get him next time.

Grant died a hero in WWI. Giants put up plaque to honor him. When Giants left New York, fans stormed field and took keepsakes, including plaque. Giants then suffered from "Curse of Eddie Grant", going over 50 years before winning World Series again - not long after finally replacing plaque.

Jeremy Sclar @jeremysclar.bsky.social · 07/06/2026
Wasn't sure Tony Phillips got the hits. But I was 1st to use Earle, who caught for all active franchises that began in American Association. And finally used Frisch, possibly 2nd biggest Giant I'd yet to use (still haven't used Christy Mathewson).

Jeremy Sclar @jeremysclar.bsky.social · 07/06/2026
Ack! There are certain guys that fit a lot of the stat categories for whom I keep forgetting which ones won't work. Here, tried Mike Tiernan lower left. He topped out at 192 hits.

Able to use 2 loophole answers bottom corners. I'll have to remember Charlie Comiskey is one as well. No one's used him yet in the remaining spot that row (he's at 0.004%).

Jeremy Sclar @jeremysclar.bsky.social · 04/06/2026
1st to use my 2 lowest: Pippen struck out Ted Williams in latter's minor league debut. Harikkala gave up walkoff HR to Barry Bonds on May 28, 2004. I recently learned that was part of the record for most such HRs (5) in single day in MLB history.

1st to use my 2 lowest. Richardson has been a very useful addition to my player pool, though I wasn't quite sure on him here. Risky guess paid off.

Jeremy Sclar @jeremysclar.bsky.social · 30/05/2026
Probably about the best I could do given the categories. I believe Wiltse tied for longest no hitter by innings (10) in MLB history. And it a perfect game until he hit 27th batter. Home plate umpire later admitted strike 3 should have been called previous pitch.

Specific OF positions may be an even bigger weakness for me than 40+ 2B. Tried HOFer Jesse Burkett before Cruz, Jr. Alas, that'd work for Giants & Cardinals, but not Red Sox. Did manage to be 1st to use Selbach there, but that also a guess.

Jeremy Sclar @jeremysclar.bsky.social · 28/05/2026
All Giants, which isn't something I usually go for but leaned into by the end, picking Durham over the lower scoring Julio Franco.

Jeremy Sclar @jeremysclar.bsky.social · 26/05/2026
Only indirectly. You have to do the math based on how many plays there are, how many people are getting a certain square right, and what your percentage was for the player used. I also refresh before checking, just to make sure.

Jeremy Sclar @jeremysclar.bsky.social · 26/05/2026
Also, 7 Giants with the other 2 being Hall of Famers

Jeremy Sclar @jeremysclar.bsky.social · 26/05/2026
1st to use all but 2 highest, but only due to early finish. Don't think that will last that long for any of them. Score may drop a bit, though.

A couple spots kept me from a 0, but at least I 1st to use Strange (and 2nd to use Diaz; they both on my favorite non-Giants team, the 1995 Mariners) and this marks 1st I've ever used Shelton - the 2006 AL MVP of my heart.

Jeremy Sclar @jeremysclar.bsky.social · 25/05/2026
The Barry Bonds - Tim Harikkala 2004 walkoff was my inspiration for studying Harikkala for Immaculate Grid. Had no idea it was part of a record! Well, other than the career HR record. Neat!

Jeremy Sclar @jeremysclar.bsky.social · 24/05/2026
Finished early, so got to be 1st to use all my guys except center spot. I anticipate this will drop to a 0 later.

In an attempt for the 0, I threw up a hail Mary in Stuffy McInnis. Alas, he only played shortstop for A's.

Jeremy Sclar @jeremysclar.bsky.social · 23/05/2026
Top row was tough, and I definitely passed on some lower answers there, but was 1st to use Marshall. Once again the 1947 Giants (1st team to hit 200 HR) come in handy. He along with Gordon and Thomson all fit R, RBI, 30 HR, season AVG, AS, and all OF positions.

Jeremy Sclar @jeremysclar.bsky.social · 22/05/2026
Pleasantly surprised with how low some of these were.

Finished this one very late, as I'm usually bad with these categories. Turned out pretty well, though.
