Good BonesNew artwork for this fun NZ series about a not-spectacularly-competent man attempting to renovate a house before his partner has their baby. This is somewhat complicated by the dilapidation of the place, not to mention various mysterious, ghostly and grisly goings on. Out now on Three/Neon

My best friend died this morning after very nearly 16 years together. God my heart is so heavy. It is no exaggeration to say that I'm not sure I ever truly loved anything before her. Such a good girl.

Exciting mystery box flotsam on Byron Bay beach this morning. Cops half-heartedly draped some tape over it, so we have to assume it's not dangerous, despite the large CAUTION on the side.
No idea what this box wrapped in police tape is, but it washed up on the shore of Byron Bay this morning. A beautiful dog is investigating.

Here's some unused art for Floodland - the filmmakers wanted something less metaphorical, which is totally fine, but I still love this design.
Unused key art for the film Floodland. Design is a abstract mono rendering of a house roof in a field of white, with a man comforting his son as they both take refuge from the flood on the roof of their home.

Just a heads up for designers who, like me, had missed this: Adobe InDesign now defaults to quietly adding AI alt text to any placed image, and then adds an 'AI generated content' tag to every file you create, both of which you'll probably want turned off.

this is solid logic borne out by statistical evidence www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio...
"I suspect a variation of the bystander effect (whereby the more witnesses there are to a mugging – for example – the less likely any one is to intervene) is in operation. Thus, the more exec producers linked to it, the worse the show."

Holy cow. This is a very entertaining / horrifying piece. TW: lots and lots of masturbation, natch. harpers.org/archive/2025...
What are these gooners actually doing? Wasting hours each day consuming short-form video content. Chasing intensities of sensation across platforms. Parasocially fixating on microcelebrities who want their money. Broadcasting their love for those microcelebrities in public forums. Conducting bizarre self-experiments because someone on the internet told them to. In general, abjuring connective, other-directed pleasures for the comfort of staring at screens alone. Does any of this sound familiar? Do you maybe know some folks who get up to stuff like this? It’s true that gooners are masturbating while they engage in these behaviors. You could say that only makes them more honest.

Just a little note about the upcoming "March for Australia" led by the 'concerned mums and dads' et al
A union poster with the words " Nazis want you help. Tell them to fuck off. Upcoming rallies to 'take our country back' or challenge immigration policies are actually being supported by the same weird, gutless losers who celebrate Hitler's birthday and hide behind masks to bash strangers. You don't have to agree with them, but if you march at their rallies you will make them look larger and provide cover for them to recruit more people to their insane and hateful ideology. Don't let Nazis divide workers. We rise together."

Every small regular donation can help protect 1970s Colombian models from mistreatment and neglect. With your help a better life is possible.
An LP cover called 'Disco Impacto' from the 1970s, featuring a bikini-clad model entwined in a wicker chair that is lying on its side. Her head appears to be stuck in the frame. It's very odd, uncomfortable and to my eyes, not very sensual or appealing. No judgement tho
