No need to tweak anything manually, I made sure it straight up works at engine level. Shaders are also written with a Haxe subset that can transpile to GLSL or ShaderLab (or more, made it work for PS5 too but that part is private): ceramic-engine.com/guides/shade...

Web stack (WebGL, JS, Web Audio APIs) seems like a good bet also, as web standards usually keep being compatible in the long run. Even <marquee> is still working! My older non-flash web game projects made in the 2000s still work perfectly fine today

If that can give you some perspective, I heard many times from people they thing playing games is a wast of time, but they see no issue spending that time on watching netflix series one after another, so I guess we all have our blind spots and it boils down to what feels important to us!

Yes, I was more thinking of like: dealing with toolchains such as Android tools and its gradle mess, keeping up with updates and breaking changes, Xcode projects on iOS and all the things that come with it. I don't see any added value to manage this "by hand", it's just eating your time and energy

Like, I wrote a whole 2D cross platform game engine from scratch way before LLMs. Some parts were very rewarding to do. Some others, I wouldn't feel sorry to have skipped them, and instead feel like this time could have been spent for something better, really depends on the code/context etc.

I get it and agree with that, though it's only healthy when the `less creative` part is not eating up majority of your focus to a point you don't have space for the creative parts. It's a balance to find, and automated tooling for debugging, writing test suites and so on could help with that balance

I agree with almost everything there, though a common problem I see in AI rants is how programming as a whole is either seen entirely as creative or not. Treating every piece of code the same makes any creativity-related argument (pro or against AI use for it) quite weak imo
